Email notification after post does not work

    Hi all, i have an issue with my blog. My friends have registered to it and follow me and are suppose to receive an email every time I post something new. After the supports advice to install the relevant widget i have piked a test-user in order to test this function, but it still does not work. Could you please advise what the matter is? Please note that I am not an IT-expert and my knowledge and blog bases on advises from forums etc. Thank you in advance regards Camilla

    Hey smallcamiinbigworld,

    On your blog, https://camigoesworld.wordpress.com/, it looks like you are adding everything in as a “Page” instead of a “Post.” Whenever someone subscribes to your blog, it sends them an e-mail notification whenever a new post goes live, but it does not send notifications for new pages.

    Oh …… i understand …..thank you very much for your quick answer. is there an easy way to change all my pages to posts? I dont have enough knowledge to just try it, so would need your advise as well. Also, as you have seen there is a certain order within the countries. Can this order be kept when I use posts instead of pages? Many thanks again

    Hi smallcamiinbigworld,

    Unfortunately, the only way to turn posts into pages is by manually converting all of them.

    The order in your menu can be kept in posts by creating categories, then adding those categories to all of your posts as you create them. You would then create your menu by categories instead of by pages. The order is all handled under Theme – Customize – Menus – Primary Menu, which I think you’re familiar with based on the pages menu you have on https://camigoesworld.wordpress.com/.

    Using categories would also give you the freedom to make multiple posts under a single category. For example, clicking on the, “Datong,” category on your navigation menu would bring you to all of the blog posts you’ve written on Datong, instead of just a single page.

    Since you already have a lot of content, converting them all would be a complete rebuild of your entire website, and could take some time.

    You would need to:
    1. Create a “Top Level” category for every country.
    2. Create a sub-category for every level underneath that country. (Kathmandu would be a sub-category under Nepal).
    3. Recreate all of your pages as posts, making sure to correctly categorize them along the way. Note: Your followers may get an e-mail for every “new” post.
    4. Reformat your main menu as categories instead of pages.

    Alternatively, if you don’t want to rebuild your entire site, you can start using “Posts” from now on, and just add all of the new Categories to your menu alongside the pages. That way, all of your followers will get post notifications, and you won’t have to go through the process of reformatting all of your previous content.

    Hi scosgro,

    ;))))) ;(((((( thanks ….. well this helps for sure to understand how to change everything, but not to change everything. I need to think about the next steps, but would prefer to have everythin in the same format.
    When I copy paste the texts, will the pics be copied as well, or will I need to add them from the galerie manually again? This might be the biggest part to solve…..

    Hi –

    You’ll need to add the images manually from your media library when creating the posts. As soon as the posts are published the email notification about it will be sent to your email followers.
