email notification does not display image

  Good morning.
  I recently changed our blog to Private and since then, email notifications to the registered Admins and Editors carry a link to the blog entry instead of displaying the image as it used to . Please kindly assist.

  Are you talking about the featured images or the images embedded in the post?

  Email notifications don’t include featured images, but they include images embedded in the post.

  So it would be good to confirm which images are you talking about.

  Thanks so much for replying staff-happychia. It’s the embedded images that don’t seem to appear. I get a notification on the email that says:

  * Images are not displayed in this email and must be viewed on the website.

  This only happened since I made the blog Private so assume it’s related but would prefer not to have to follow a link to view the image. Thanks in advance for your help.

  I just found this thread in which a staff member responded:

  If you have set your blog to be private then any images which were posted in a blog post will not be included in the email notification. Private blogs really are meant to be private, so including pictures in emails would be counter-intuitive!

  So that explains :)

  Thank you very much! I really appreciate the help. I don’t necessarily agree with WordPress’s logic here (after all, if the content of the blog can be emailed, why not the accompanying image?) but it’s helpful to know it’s not because I’ve done something foolish! Thanks again for your time.

  I just re-read the previous thread again and found this:

  I completely understand your point of view and there is already a request in our “ideas queue” for a feature to do just what you’re describing. Have an option to allow end-users to enable or disable images from being displayed in email notifications for private blogs. I will add this thread to that request as an additional vote, if you’re OK with that.

  So WordPress.com is already aware of this and will provide an option to include images in the notification emails, hopefully soon :)
