Email notification of ‘New Comment’

  • Unknown's avatar

The email notifications indicate the name of the commenter. My e-mail program automatically groups by SUBJECT. So I get a new email thread for each new commenter. Had the ‘subject’ been ‘new comment on _thread name_’ my email would have grouped them.
Suggestion: Don’t put names in the subject field of new comments.

I don’t have a site linked to this WordPress.com account

  • Hello there,

Out of curiosity, what email software are you using exactly there?

  • Hi there,
Hmm…to make sure I am on the same page, are you saying that you want all comments from the same post to end up in the same email thread regardless of commenter? I use Gmail as well, and it is set up with [New Comment]Post Name, and then in the preview area, you can see who made the comment. But the actual commenter isn’t in the subject. This is how mine is displayed:

Whenever anything else is done with a comment, such as a user liking the comment, their name is in the subject. But, with new comments, I only see the name of the post. But if your point is to have all comments end up in the same email chain, I understand and will be happy to share this internally.

    Thanks!
