email notification plug in

  Trying to set up email notification for my little private blog with about 30 members. I did not realize it was not a part of the free plan, ok so I get that, but when I try to upgrade to a personal account using PayPal it goes through the whole process and then when I come back to the site, nothing happened…in essence I cannot seem to upgrade my account?
  So two questions, does personal level have email notification? and Has anyone had this type of trouble using PayPal?

  Hi Stan –

  Thanks for writing to us. I’m happy to help out. First, I want to be sure I understand the request.

  It sounds like you are inquiring about email subscribers, is that right? A widget can be added to a free site to accomplish email followers. In this case, whenever you publish a new post, those email subscribers will get an email notification.

  I’m happy to tackle the PayPal question too – but it doesn’t seem like a plan upgrade is needed based on what you’ve mentioned.

  Hi and thank you,
  Yes you are exactly right I just want the group to be notified of posts from the group ao we can get a dialog going on our blog. we all too a class together and are spread out accross the USA so this is a perfect way to stay in touch and share our experiences from what we learned and how we are applying it.

  If you have a chance could you help me via the blog here to locate and set up the widget.

  Hi Stan,

  There are two different methods you may use to allow your members to get alerted of new posts. The first is with the follower Button which is a single click to opt-into subscribing but does require a WordPress.com account:

  The second is with he follow-blog widget which works for both logged in and logged out users:
  https://en.support.wordpress.com/widgets/follow-blog-widget/
