email notification to followers – get notifications on an entire thread's posts

  Email notification: Some friends are following my blog. When I post, they get email notification of my post. But when one of them comments/posts a post in reply, they do not get automatic email notification. How do we set it up so that someone who is following the blog gets an email automatically whenever anyone posts on the blog, not just when the blog host posts? I.e., the followers want to get notified automatically by email whenever there is a post on the blog, so that they can follow threads easily. Also, whenever someone not the host posts on the blog – i.e., in collaborative projects.

  I have read and re-read the support documentation but what it seems to say is that the followers will get an automatic email; and yet, my followers are only getting an email when I, the host, post.

  You cannot compel any followers to receive every post and every comment on your posts and thank GOODNESS for that! We are all drowning is a sea of duplicated emailed “information” that we can read in the Reader. One of the reasons people unsubscribe is the duplication not only there but also the links and snippets of posts being spammed to social networking sites on top of that.

  In fact subscribers control the frequency with with they receive our posts (instantly, daily, weekly, never) here https://wordpress.com/me/notifications

  That said, each one of us can choose to set up our blogs so visitors can click a link and receive comments on our posts. Go to > Dashbaord > Settings > Discussion and scroll way down the page to:
  Follow Comments
  _Show a ‘follow comments” option in the comment form
  enable that setting and “save changes”.

  HI Timethief,

  I am not trying to compel anyone. I have a group of people following who *want* to get notified whenever someone in their group posts, and, when I post. The second part is working but the first part is not.

  Your last paragraph is very helpful – but – I am not sure if they all have their own WordPress accounts. If not then they do not have Dashboards. Any further thoughts? Thank you!
