Email notifications

I am trying to figure out where 1000’s of sign-ups to my website are coming from. I am getting a huge amount of emails daily. I’ve checked my plug-ins on my wordpress site and I don’t have a sign-in form that I am aware of that ties to wordpress. I use an ‘addthis’ pop up window for new registrations and I also get a notification by email when I get sign-ups there. But this wordpress email is different. I do not believe they are scams because there is no links to follow….only a

    ‘NEW REGISTRATION’ from
(email visible only to moderators and staff)
    User name: XXXXXX
    User email: XXXXXX
I love that I am getting hundreds of sign-ups per day and I value them, however I need to know where they are originating from on wordpress to better manage these contacts. Thank you in advance for any help that you can redirect me to.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  • Hi there,

Are you speaking of the site, askleaves.com

That site is not on WordPress.com, but is a self-hosted WordPress site hosted by Bluehost.com. Those emails are not coming from us, and have nothing to do with us.

I have no idea where you would control the settings for new user registration notifications on a self-hosted site, but the WordPress.org forums should be able to help you with that:

    https://wordpress.org/support/

However, given the volume of new signups it’s much more likely that you’re being targeted by a botnet trying to overwhelm your email server or some similarly nefarious purpose.

You might want to consider temporarily disabling new user signups, or at least adding a captcha plugin to it to prevent bots from creating new accounts.

http://www.askleaves.com/health-benefits-index/ was developed by wordpress but redirects to another website calgarycmmc.com

  • The site is using the WordPress software. This software is free for anyone to download and use in any way they wish. WordPress.com is just another site that uses the free WordPress software to provide a service. We don’t control who uses the software, and we have no access to sites that are not hosted on our servers.

askleaves.com is hosted with Bluehost, and calgarycmmc.com is hosted with Cloudflare. Neither of those sites have any connection whatsoever with WordPress.com.
