Email Notifications

There are 2 admins set up for this blog. A couple issues have arisen. 1) we aren’t both getting email notifications since the second admin made sure email notifications were turned on. 2) the email notifications no longer indicate who signed up to follow our blog. They used to indicate the email address of the follower and wordpress’ guess on where they are located. Now, they only say “someone is following your blog.” Not sure if this is coincidental and just a glitch or if it is related to 2 admins signing up for email alerts.

The only email address that will receive notification emails is the one listed in your Settings -> General page.

Regarding the “Following” notification emails, that means that the person who’s following your blog doesn’t have or hasn’t filled out any information in their Gravatar profile. When someone signs up for your blog and has their profile information filled out, you’ll see their name, instead of “Someone.”

Ok, I understand that and thanks for the feedback! The subscription thing doesn’t quite make sense to me though. If they have to sign up via email, why wouldn’t it send their email address?

The information that shows up in the notification email is pulled from their Gravatar profile (which is connected to their email). Currently, if there’s no Gravatar associated with the email address, you see the message that you received.

However, you can view your subscribers’ email addresses via your Site Stats page and clicking on the Blog Followers link in your Shares, Subscriptions, & Totals module.
