Email Notifications

The Blog “Richardbistrong.com” I have subscribed to. Within “READER” I can clearly see all of the Blog Posts Funneling in, but I do not receive EMAIL notifications when a new Blog Post Gets posted.

I contacted Richard Bistrong himself (the owner of the blog) he too is having the same issue with WordPress.Com, we are both subscribed to multiple blogs of which we receive notifications from on a regular basis, but RichardBistrong.com we do not.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  • Hi there. http://www.richardbistrong.com/ is not a WordPress.com blog, but is self-hosted using WordPress.ORG. WordPress.com and WordPress.org are completely separate and different: http://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/

As such, WordPress.com cannot sent email notifications for that blog. You can follow non-WP.com blogs in the WP.com Reader via their RSS feeds, but WP.com only handles email notifications for WP.com blogs. The owner will need to use a third-party service like MailChimp if he wants email notifications to be enabled on his blog.

Strange, as I have an email from “WordPress.com” with a blog post update, from RichardBistrong.com back in August.

And RichardBistrong.com was never hosted on WordPress.com

Do other plugins/services exist that use the same WordPress.com email template and the same “from” WordPress.com email address

Because, this was working, and now it is not

  • If he had Jetpack installed that might be why you got WordPress.com emails of new posts. So, he’ll need to check if that plugin is still installed and working. However, we can’t help with that from this side. He’ll need to contact Jetpack support if the plugin isn’t working. For further help he should also post to the WordPress.org forums, as we can only help with issues on a WordPress.com blog here.
