    I am no longer getting email notifications from bloggers that leave a comment on websites.

    What is the site address/URL in question?

    If you’re not receiving notification emails:

    *First check to make sure you are the author of the post.
    *Check the Discussion Settings page to make sure email notifications are activated.
    *Check the Notifications page to be sure you haven’t blocked all emails from WordPress.com.
    *Check the spam folder in your email program to make sure the messages were not sent there by mistake.

    Hi mariahpierson,

    It is not my wordpress website & never had any issues with getting email notifications when someone made a comment.

    I checked all those things out you listed & the one that bugs me is the 1st one.
    I am not the author of the post but I would never get my own comments anyway.
    What is the difference between a comment, post or reply?
    It seems the checklist is too generic to actually help most people.

    Is this a WordPress.com site you’re asking about? I’m only asking because often times there is confusion regarding WordPress.com and WordPress.org.

    Each blog owner has full control to approve, delete, or edit comments left on their blog. They can enable and disable comments, too.

    A post would be the content of what you have read and you have the option of commenting/replying if the owner of content has enabled comments.

    A comment would be your remark/question/statement on something someone has said.

    A reply could be the site owner replying/responding to your comment, you adding something else to what you previously said, or responding back on the original comment you made.

    Yes, I know there is a difference between the 2.
    There have been a few people on the site yesterday complaining about not getting any notification emails, so I think the issue is with the administrator or the site itself. http://dalneitzel.com/

    Be careful when visiting this site, you may want to spend all your time looking for the treasure……

  • Hi there,

    http://dalneitzel.com/ is not a WordPress.com site, but a self-hosted site connected here via the Jetpack plugin, and it’s that plugin that isn’t sending out notifications. So in a sense you’re correct that the administrator needs to fix this – they need to update to the next version of Jetpack once we release it which will hopefully resolve this issue.

    The admin is checking things out. Sure it will be resolved sooner or later.

    I have actually got a few email notifications today, so maybe the admin fixed the problem.
    I wonder why I am getting duplicate emails though?
    Only from certain pages of the blog.
    I will check to see if there is a double subscription for those pages.

  • It’s possible the site owner installed the beta version of the plugin. The duplicate emails are most likely because the site owner had tried unpublishing and republishing the posts to try and get the emails to go out. Those emails were queued in our system and all went out the moment they updated the plugin, but it shouldn’t happen for any new posts from here.

    Looks like the problem is resolved.

    There were duplicate subs in my account for some web pages & deleted one & the duplicate disappeared as well & just had to re-sub for those pages. I think this problem arose when I changed my email address & re-subed some pages to see if it was going to resolve the problem, but my email is a catch all & that’s probably why I was getting dupes.
    When the original problem was resolved yesterday, I received those dupes.
    Now all is fine.

    Very interesting treasure hunt for those that want to look for a couple million $$.
    Took 4 trips to the Rocky’s last year & this year.
