Email notifications to followers, and Comments on other peoples blogs

    Hello.
After an [extended] break from blogging, I’m back, and doing things as normal. However …. I’m experiencing two problems:
    1) Email notifications about new blog posts appear not to be being sent to all followers, so very few followers know about a new post.
    2) When I comment on other peoples WordPress blogs, only a few of my comments are actually visible – as most go into the blog owners Spam folders – so they don’t know the comment is there.

Can the WordPress Elves please help me with this?

Oh … I’ve also been told that my posts aren’t appearing in the ‘Reader’.
…. apologies, I forgot to mention this earlier.

  • 1. What is the URL of the site with the problem and two or three of the email addresses which you can confirm are not receiving new posts?

    2. How comments are moderated and approved are up to the site’s owner, we don’t have any control over that.

The URL of my blog site is:
    https://thecobweboriumemporium.wordpress.com/

One of the bloggers who reported that she wasn’t seeing any blog posts in her reader, nor informed via email that I’d published a post was:
    https://moreinkpleaseblog.com/

The above blogger has tried today, to solve the problem by unfollowing and following again – so we won’t know if that’s worked until I publish another post in a few days time.

The following bloggers have told me that my comments on their own blogs have ended up in their spam folders.

The blogger @ https://klmaccie.wordpress.com/ has told me in a comment on my own blog, that she too has had problems leaving comments on other peoples blogs, just as I have.

Obviously I only know about the bloggers who happen to check their Spam folders regularly, so just happened to find my comments there and told me about it.

But I’m very aware that there are many bloggers who would normally reply to my comments, and haven’t.

And… I’m also aware that there are many of my followers who haven’t visited my posts, and yet I know they normally would have. People who became ‘friends’ – so they’d definitely visit.

Obviously, I cannot type messages or comments to people, because they aren’t seeing my comments – and I can’t write and tell them to look in their spam folders because they haven’t checked their spam folders! It’s a vicious circle.

I should be grateful for your help.

We’ll need to know their email address that they expect to receive emails under, not the URL of their site.

The following bloggers have told me that my comments on their own blogs have ended up in their spam folders.

Please contact Akismet, our anti-spam service, about that via https://akismet.com/contact/

Following your helpful advice, I have this morning contacted https://akismet.com/contact/ asking them for their help regarding my comment made on other peoples blogs going directly into their spam folders.

With regard to supplying you with email address’ for all the people who haven’t received a notification saying I’ve made a post; nor shown my post in their reader – well unfortunately this is a task I’ve looked into and have found it almost impossible to put the right email address with the right blog.
Not all emails ‘relate’ in words to the title of the blogs or even to the name used on those blogs.

If I can obtain the correct email address’ for the actual web sites, I will come back with those within the next couple of days, but ask if you would please give me 48 hours to try and obtain this information.

  • @thecobweboriumemporium, no worries, there’s no hurry. Let us know when you can. We just can’t really check the logs and make sure if the emails are sent or not without knowing the particular address.
You can also subscribe to your own blog using a different email address and test if you receive the emails when publishing new posts.

As for the Reader, it looks like all the posts are there? https://wordpress.com/read/feeds/19086841
