Email or respond on the blog?
-
I get gmails letting me know when people comment on my blog. I assume the respondents do not? I don’t want to be redundant in my response to comments, and I want to do the proper thing.
Does it matter whether I respond by email directly or should I limit myself to comments on the blog? I prefer to email directly, so I can introduce myself and engage in more direct questions as I’m doing research for a book.

It’s up to you. Only you receive the e-mails. If you post a reply using the comment form on the entry, the other person will not get an e-mail (the blog has no way of knowing who you are replying to). If you want your reply to be public, you can post it on the blog. Otherwise, nothing is stopping you from e-mailing the person directly. I have done so in the past. I’ve even made a blog friend by doing so. :-)

Thanks for confirming what I thought. I just hesitate to proceed without being sure what the rules are.
zrants.
