Email received about hacking

Hi,
Can you provide the site URL please ?
Please note that these forums are for WordPress.com hosted sites only. If your site is using the open-source WordPress.org software you need to seek help at these forums:
https://wordpress.org/support/forums/If you suspect hacking of your website please read and follow the instructions below to secure your site.
You can change both your WordPress.com account username (the name you use to login) and your display name (the name that is seen on your posts and comments).
Please see this guide:
https://wordpress.com/support/change-your-username/
I’ve marked this thread for Staff assistance as they can see the full record of activity on your site and which username did what.
If you suspect that someone else has access to your WPcom account, you should immediately change your WPcom account password and your email account password as well. Here’s how you can change your WPcom account password: https://wordpress.com/support/passwords/
It’s important that you choose a strong password and that you do not use that password on more than one site. Each site you log in to should have its own unique password. https://wordpress.com/support/security/#strong-password
Enabling 2-factor authentication on both your WordPressdotcom account and your email account can also help to keep them secure. Here’s more on that: https://wordpress.com/support/security/two-step-authentication/
Here are more tips to keep your account/website secure: https://wordpress.com/support/security/
Let us know if you have any other questions about this.
Hope this helps
Thanks

Hi there, Do please let us know the address of the site you need help with as I do not see any WPcom or jetpack sites connected to this account you are using to post to these forums.
You do not need to change your WPcom username or Display Name. If the hacking occurred on a WordPress.com, then please follow the later advice that @adarshhalan gave you above to secure your WPcom account. You can also view the last 20 actions on your own WPcom site by looking in your Activity dashboard at https://wordpress.com/activity-log/

@adarshhalan part of great support is developing your own voice rather than using someone else’s (in this case mine).
Also, as mentioned in our volunteer support guide, when quoting a reply from Staff or another volunteer, please link to their reply so we can see it in context. Thanks.

Howdy Folks –
I’m following up on the Modlook tag here. We need to know the site URL before we can provide any further help. Thanks.
