email search–stalking problem.

I have an online stalker of sorts. I haven’t given out the address of this blog to anyone, so I’m fairly sure that he doesn’t know it exists. However, does anyone know if someone can do a search with my email address and find my wordpress blog?

WordPress does not offer a search facility either for locating bloggers by username or by email address. Most bloggers such as myself choose to have “throw-away” email addresses that do not reveal our identities. Also note that posting an image of yourself, rather than an avatar is not a good idea as these images can be found in Google’s cache.

I hate to say it, but I would use an email address that they don’t know of. They can start a blog here, add you to their blog (using the email address they know) and it will show them your username and your primary blog. Protecting your email address is as important as protecting your blog identity.

The imperative thing about dealing with online stalkers – is – to keep them out of your real life. Online they might be more difficult to avoid.

They’ve been out of my real life for more than three years, unfortunately they refuse to forget about me. Thanks for the advice, I changed my email and my picture.
