Email Settings for Subscribers
-
Hello, my website is an online digital magazine that includes an ‘issue’ that includes links to the individual pieces that are posted. I wanted to know if there was a way to only have subscribers notified about posts that are categorized as news or issues instead of being notified when each individual piece is published. Or is there a way to turn off emails completely if that can’t be done. Thank you!

Hi there,
I’m afraid that’s not possible, no, as WordPress.com subscriptions to a site is in the control of subscribers, not of the site owner.
In other words, if someone chooses to subscribe to your WordPress.com site via email, they’ll be notified of every new post you publish, and they control the frequency of the emails, namely if they receive the emails immediately, or as a daily/weekly digest.
The only way to prevent an email going out to subscribers when you publish a post is to first set your site to private, publish the post, then set your site back to public.
WordPress.com subscriptions cannot be disabled on a free site. But on our Pro plan you’ll be able to switch this off, and replace it with your own subscription plugin if you prefer.
Let me know if you have any other questions about this :)
