Email subscribe not working

    I have a good friend in another country attempting to follow by email. She received an email asking to Confirm the follow, which she says she did, and she forwarded her that email to me so I could see it. She does not show up in my email follower list and does not receive blog updates by email from me, in spite of attempting to subscribe twice. Did something break in the recent update? I have the Ryu theme.

    I’ll tag this thread for Staff assistance. Will you please provide the usernames for your friend if he or she is a WordPress.com blogger, or the email addresses if they do not have WordPress.com account? The software will redact ie. HIDE the email addresses so only Staff can see them. After you do that subscribe to the thread so you are notified when they respond and please be patient while waiting.

    Hi – Thank you! Please do have support contact me on this, and I can give them the email addres in question and forward the email thread that shows her subscription with my friend if they need it. My guess is that there may be other people in that “hidden” state I know nothing about.

    You need to post the email address here. As I stated above the delftware will redact the email address so only Staff will be able to see it here in this thread.

    Thank you! I did ask her to make sure she had clicked on “confirm”. She said she did so twice.

    Hi Lavinia,

    I see that the email address you provided me was the only one that was still pending. Can you try sending the follow blog email one more time to that reader and have him/her try one more time?

    I just got your message and emailed her to let her know to try it again. She is located in Sicily. I don’t know if that would affect anything.

    She just emailed me back, and said she clicked on the confirm again. I still do not see her there.

    I didn’t see an email confirmation of delivery, so I have tried it again. I’m sorry try it one last time – I’ve sent it and received the confirmation. If not, I’ll have our team look into this.

    She just emailed me back, and sent this:

    “I went to your website and tried to follow and this is what I got.
    You already have a pending sub, we just sent you another email, click the link or contact us if you don’t get it

    I went to the contact link and followed the instructions and this is what I got.
    We were unable to fetch your activation record. Are you sure you specified the email address you signed up with?

    Like a dog chasing its tail.”

    Sorry to add another problem, but while WP is fixing the above, I have another email subscriber who retired from her job, and forgot to change her subscription before retiring. She resubscribed under a new email address, but the old one is still out there, sending email to her old workplace.

    Her old email needing removal is :

    Her new one (the good one to keep) is:
    (email visible only to moderators and staff)

    I haven’t seen this kind of issue before especially when the follower is clicking on the Confirm link, so I have reported this to our team for review.

    Her old email needing removal is :

    It’s been removed.
