email subscribers not being added

    Hello,
    I have tried to add myself (I am the blog owner) as a subscriber multiple times without any suuccess. If I am not able to subscribe, I am assuming that new subscribers are not able to subscribe either. How do I resolve this issue?

    I am using an .edu email address.

    I tried to subscribe 2 different ways.
    1. When I created the blog, I set up a subscribe page. Below is the error message I received.
    Subscribe to Blog via Email
    You already have several pending email subscriptions.
    Approve or delete a few subscriptions at subscribe.wordpress.com before continuing.
    Enter your email address to subscribe to this blog and receive notifications of new posts by email.

    I never received an email to confirm the subscription. When I click on “subscribe.wordpress.com” it does not lead to an area where I can confirm my subscription.

    2. I also entered my email address via the “subscribe now” button on the blog. I did not receive any error message, nor did I receive any emails with new blog posts.

  • I assume you’re trying to subscribe to https://knitgrandeur.com/, correct?

    Can you please give the full email address you’re trying to use? Type it on its own line, and it will be hidden automatically so only staff can see it. But we need to know the full email to check for any issues with that address.

    Were you logged into your knitgrandeur WordPress.com account when you tried to subscribe? Your WordPress.com account doesn’t use a .edu email, so as it has a different email address you need to make sure you’re logged out of your WordPress.com account first (or use an incognito browser window), else any attempt to subscribe or access your subscriptions settings will try to use the email associated with your WordPress.com account instead.

    I made sure that I was logged out knitGrandeur when I tried to subscribe with an alternate email address.

    (email visible only to moderators and staff)

    You are correct, I am attempting to subscribe with another email address so that I can monitor that posts are published and that an email notification goes out. This is how I have found out that there were issues in the past.

    I just tried using an incognito browser window, I received the same error message.

  • Thank you for providing the email address. That helped me find a request to subscribe that has been pending for a very long time. I’ve cleared that out. My hope is that you try to subscribe once again and this triggers an email which you can then approve. Please try once more to click the Subscribe Now button on knitgrandeur.com and let us know how that goes.

    Be sure to check your spam folder in case the .edu email flagged it.

    Hello,
    I subscribed again and received an email to confirm the subscription. I will know tomorrow after the next post is published whether it worked. Will let you know if it did not. Thank you for your help.

    I did not receive an email of the post to the new email address I subscribed with. In the past, I subscribed with another email address and did receive the email notification of the post to that email.

    When I confirmed my subscription, it took me to a WordPress subscription management page with the below message. I do not want to follow in WP, I would like to receive email notiifcations.

    Your subscription could not be activated. It may have expired, or the email address you subscribed with is not attached to your WordPress.com account.

    This is the management page for following blogs. You will receive an email at (email visible only to moderators and staff) whenever a new post is made on these sites. Unfollow a blog to stop receiving emails from that blog. Go to Settings to stop receiving all emails from WordPress.com.

  • Hi, yes I can see the subscription is still pending.

    the email address you subscribed with is not attached to your WordPress.com account.

    Please check the email address here:
    https://wordpress.com/me/account

    If it’s different than the one you’re subscribing with, you need to log out of WordPress.com before clicking the confirmation link. And if you have an account for that email, you might go ahead and log in as that user, too.

    Please let us know when you’ve either logged in with the address mentioned, or logged out then clicked the confirmation link.
