yes, that was the first thing I suggested to the new potential followers, but no message in the spam folders.
-
Would you please give me the first four letters of two of the email addresses which should be subscribed?
-

on another question how does one contact wordpress by email? I used to be able to do that, but cannot find the email contact info anymore.
-
Both of the email addresses you listed attempted to subscribe, but never clicked the activation link in the confirmation email. If they attempt to subscribe again, they’ll receive a new confirmation email. Overall, you have 18 unconfirmed subscribers.
You can contact us directly http://en.support.wordpress.com/contact/ but due to reasons listed there, we have had to limit that to only users with paid upgrades for now.
-
This is very frustrating. There has to be a better system. I was wondering what happened to those who said they would subscribe.
Really, do you need an activation email? Its just another speed bump/hurdle in communication. It is very hard to “accidently” subscribe. Why does WordPress do this?
The look in the “spam folder” answer is totally inadquate, because many email accounts have spam blocker at the server and the user doesnt know that an activation email has been blocked. Can you send me the list of unconfirmed subscribers so that I can remind them?
-
The activation email is required as it prevents blogger from signing up followers themselves, effectively spamming the receivers with emails they never wanted.
I cannot send you a list of the unconfirmed subscribers as that would violate our privacy policy. They would need to attempt to resubscribe themselves.

Dear Happiness Engineer
re: lack of email support
I am very unhappy with WordPress.
I have invested much time and energy into wordpress for my blog. I was very concerned initially that there was no phone support, but ok, I decided that I can live with email support. Now wordpress has eliminated email support. I have in the past used in infrequently, but on those occasions, I really needed it. Sending me off to a forum of non-experts may be good for WordPress, but its very frustrating for me and often one gets a flood of irrelevant information.I cannot threaten to move to another service as I have invested too much in this service. This only makes me more unhappy and angry.
I do not have time to figure out a complicated software system with no email support.
What can be done?

How do they know to resubscribe, if they do not know there is a problem?
There has to be a better way.
-
You are receive support from an official Happiness Engineer right here.
Is there anything else that I can help you with?
-
Sorry, I didn’t see your most recent reply.
If they aren’t receiving updates, most folks try to resubscribe, contact us, or contact the blogger.
-
how do I contact you or other happiness engineers in the future? Not sure how I got here?
What is the cost to get email support?
-
Please use http://en.support.wordpress.com/contact/ to reach us. It will always direct you to the open support venue for your account type.
We hope to re-open email support for users without paid upgrades in the future, but for now email support is limited to users with paid upgrades.
You might want to consider the No Ads upgrade, which removes our advertisements from your blog, and of course gives you access to email support. The cost for that is $30/year.
-
Sorry, but I disagree with your premise that the unconfirmed subscribers will just resubscribe.
If that were the case there would not be so many unconfirmed in the list.
How many total unconfirmed in the wordpress blogasphere are there? And what is the average age of the unconfirmed?
In this world of heavy email traffic, I seriously doubt that an attempted subscriber will notice that they did not get a blog post. It may be months before one notices or not at all!
-
It may be, but that’s up to the subscribers. We can’t force a subscription on them, so they need to confirm first.
It’s also possible that some decided to subscribe and then chose not to continue when they received the confirmation email.

I sent out a reminder to the two people that I knew about. They immediately responded and successfully subscribed.
please forward this request to management:
It is to the benefit of both WordPress and the users to send out a reminder to the unconfirmed subscribers. This is potentially lost business for WordPress. If I had 18 unconfirmed out of a total of only 50 subscribers – that is 36%. That is a huge number of lost business opportunities.
