Email subscribers now get list of 10 posts and all images from 10 posts!

Something very strange and very seriously wrong has just started happening in the emails my blog subscribers receive. Instead of receiving the text and images from just the ONE latest post, the email now contains a list of the last TEN posts, and ALL the images from all of those posts — several megabytes of unnecessary and unwanted content in each email. This is annoying to my subscribers. But I’ve done nothing to cause this to happen — I’ve changed no settings and I can’t find any settings that control the number of recent posts that feed into subscriber emails.
Is this a programming error at WordPress.com?? This needs to be fixed right away! Please let me know if there’s anything I can do about this at my end. Thanks.

I just found that “Settings > Reading > Syndication feeds show the most recent…” was set to “10 items”. Is this why 10 full posts were sent out in the last 2 emails to followers? I never changed this and these emails have always contained just 1 item. Did WordPress reset the default value to 10?

Can you forward the email you got with the 10 posts in it to support@wordpress.com? Just mention that you’re forwarding it to Shawna. :)
Did you recently turn on conversation mode in your email client? This will show all of the emails you get from a particular blog in one ‘thread’ and it could look like all of the last ten emails were sent out at once.
