Email subscription widget non-funtional

I added the email subscription widget to my sidebar on 11/25. On 11/28, a reader successfully subscribed.
Yesterday, I publicized email subscriptions on another site. Those who have attempted to subscribe have not been able to – none has received an email to confirm their subscription. All are non-wordpress users.
I looked but couldn’t find any reference to others having this problem. I’m receiving my own post as email without problem. Any advice?

I subscribed to my own blog and have yet to receive an email.
Someone else who subscribed as “immediate” wrote to telll me that WordPress’s idea of immediate and his were somewhat different.
Has anyone managed to get this new facility working properly?

This morning I logged out and subscribed to my own blog using an alternate email address. I had no problem, and the process moved quickly (completed within two hours).
However, other people continue to enter their email addresses without receiving a confirmation email from WordPress.
I really don’t want to keep a non-functional widget on my page – especially since I have no way of knowing who’s trying to use it, and becoming frustrated with my blog in the process.
Any ideas……????

That did help with a couple of situations.
I’m going to contact the other folks and see if spam filters, etc. might not be the problem. Thx!

I suddenly started to get the emails for my own subscription on Saturday, and a dummy subscription that I set up received them from the first day, so all seems to be working now.
