Email Subscriptions

A large number of people subscribed to my blog using the email subscription widget at a conference last week. I know that they must confirm the subscription but I haven’t received many new followers. Is it possible they aren’t getting the confirmation email? Have there been any bugs with the widget lately?
I have also stopped receiving notifications for new subscriptions. I checked my settings and the notification button for new subscriptions is checked. Why aren’t I getting them?
