  Hi
  I’m a beginner with wordpress, but have just set up a ‘private’ blog so only available to people I have invited. I was disappointed that when I did my first post and published it, my followers didnt get an email notification to say that it had been updated. is it possible for me to make this happen? I would have thought this was a fairly standard set up. Thanks for any help

  Hi, @therealdidor,

  Congratulations on your start with WordPress!

  As your blog is private, you would have invited viewers rather than followers.
  You inviting them is only the first step in the process. They also need to sign-up.

  From User Roles – Viewer:

  Note: If someone is a Follower of your public site, and then you set that site to private, they do not automatically become a Viewer. Viewers must always be specifically invited. Viewers must also sign up to follow a private site if they would like to receive updates each time you publish a new post.
