THANK YOU for posting that email. I must confess, I am wondering Howhy that email isn’t posted anywhere else on the web site? I have been having an incredibly frustrating time trying to find support, but there appears to be NO way to get a hold of the “Happiness Engineers” and there’s nothing on the support page to indicate how to email support, even though the support page says it’s supposed to return today.

(I’ve been trying to contact them because, even though I have followed the instructions for what I need to do on the support pages *exactly,* those instructions aren’t working)

What gives?? WP: I am *not* happy, nor do I get the impression that my happiness matters, or that WP is “here for” me. On the contrary, support seems completely non-existent.

Many bloggers assume they need Staff help when they may not need it at all. In fact most support questions on the support forums are answered by Volunteers like me. I have been here for 9 years and I predate all but one support Staff member being on staff. I also predate all support documentation.

We can use tag search https://en.forums.wordpress.com/tags/support-options

We can use the support docs search box too
    https://en.support.wordpress.com/?s=support+options
    Results:
    https://en.support.wordpress.com/live-chat/
    https://en.support.wordpress.com/help-support-options/

This is a peer support forum where Staff and Volunteers work together cooperatively to provide WordPress.com support. Volunteers answer the majority of all support questions and when we cannot provide support we tag threads for Staff assistance.

You can post the relevant URL for the site (post or page) in question and speak up here please, as there is no phone support, and emailing support Staff means it takes longer to get an answer than posting to the support forums does.

We are happy to answer your WordPress.COM questions right here in this thread. Please simply post exactly what you need help with into this thread, knowing there’s rarely ever a question posted here that has not already been asked and answered.

    Example:

If you are referring to http://www.lanisimpson.com/ know that it is not a site being hosted by WordPress.COM and we do not provide support for it. If that is the case then like about 30% of those who post here you are posting to the wrong support forum and need to contact your web host.

    lanisimpson.com is hosted by Colo4
    WHOIS
    IP Address: 72.44.81.42
    Name Servers:
    ns1.lanisimpson.com
    ns2.lanisimpson.com

We provide support only for sites hosted by WordPress.COM. WordPress.COM and WordPress.ORG are completely separate and have different logins, features, run different versions of some themes with the same names, and have separate support documentation and separate support forums. Read the differences here http://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/

If you don’t have a username account at WordPress.ORG click http://wordpress.org/support/ and register one on the top right hand corner of the page that opens, so you can post to the support forums there.

    Resetting your WordPress.ORG password http://codex.wordpress.org/Resetting_Your_Password
WordPress.org support docs are at https://codex.wordpress.org/Main_Page

Firstly, thank you for your reply. I sure hope I can get an answer!

The problem I’m having is that the instructions on the support pages for embedding a YouTube video on a WordPress page are not working. I have followed the instructions EXACTLY, for putting in a short code (on it’s own line) as follows:

According to the support page, this should embed the video and have it start 224 seconds into the video (which is the important part). I don’t know if this info is now outdated, or what, but this isn’t working. I just get that shortcode showing up as a string of characters on the page when I preview it (I am not putting it in a “post,” but on a “page” if that makes a difference, though I don’t know why it would). And by “preview” I don’t mean checking it in the visual editor, I mean actually hitting the “preview” button, as per the instructions on the support page.

    Anybody else have this problem?

No the problem is that your site here http://www.lanisimpson.com/ is not hosted by WordPress.COM and our support documentation does not apply to any blogs that are not hosted here. You are posting to the wrong support forum and we cannot help you here with that site.
