Email through other providers
-
Hi
Sorry but I am confused with the different term used by different companies. My hosting company gave me this IP to direct my email records 196.22.132.27 but none of the WordPress help pages requires this info. Can someone please help me to set up my emails so that they work again? The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

try this link: https://en.support.wordpress.com/add-other-email/
the code below is what it took to make my email work with domain mapping – but they have made things “easier” with the entering the information – you will probably need to go back a time or two with your email provider (I did anyway)
I will also flag this for staff attention –
MX 10 mail.my-site.com.
A mail 255.255.255.255 -
Thanks – my service provider wanted me to change the A field and not the MX one that is highlighted in most of the support forums I added the A field and I am waiting to see if this worked. Thanks for your assistance!

You are welcome – different email providers have different secret handshakes – so keep the faith

Are you sure that they weren’t asking you to map your domain name using an a-record instead of changing the nameservers? That would be a more typical use of a IP address in a situation like this.

Hi Root Josh
No idea – considering you understand the terminology, it might be that that is the correct solution. Could you explain what I need to do and where?
Thanks!

I would encourage you to talk with your registrar and ask them to explain exactly what they are asking you to do. Without more information, all WordPress.com staff can do is to speculate.
