emailed comments to gmail sent by “me”

    I have comment notification turned on, and they are emailed to me at my gmail account. However, all the emails are labeled as sent by my own email account so that if I try to reply to the sender, the emails are sent back to my own email account.

    I don’t have much knowledge of this stuff, and I’m wondering if this is a google issue or a wordpress issue, and if anyone knows how to fix this. It’s kind of confusing. I had used yahoo for a while, and the emails were “sent” by the commenter, and I could reply directly to them, but I’d prefer to use my gmail account if I could.

    I’d say GMail since I’m sitting here looking at a comment that came into my inbox from ‘me’ and I’m seeing the poster’s name in the ‘From:’ line.

    Now I’m also seeing the address in the from field so GMail might be seeing that and assuming that it’s from me. But there is an actual name in there.

    You’ll note that if you click on the ‘More options’ link, it does show the email address. But if you hide the options, it does show the name when you’re reading the email.

    I’d say it’s a GMail issue.

    I kind of like it, since I can go to Gmail once a day, select all [ me ] entries, and automatically label them BLOG. Saves tons of time. And I prefer to respond to a comment in the thread it was made, so that my response has just as much public exposure as the original.

    Has anyone had a resolution to this. I understand and agree with raincoaster on how he uses that, but I like to see in my inbox who the response is actually from. Shis did you ever find out how to change it?

    Whilst the emails are labelled as ‘me’, selecting to reply sends an email to whoever left the comment.

    You can see all the information by looking at the email itself.

    Interesting as I was thinking about this myself. I get a few emails marked as coming from the actual poster but the majority come from ‘me.’

    The only ones that have the commenters name on my Gmail are pingbacks and people that use the contact form.
