Emailing Updates
-
Has the ability to send emails to followers for each update to existing posts been created yet? Last time I checked, we still couldn’t do this.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

I certainly wouldn’t want to automatically ping my subscribers every time I updated an existing post (think spelling errors or any other gaff). As a subscriber to a site that did that, it would drive me mad.
But, if you are updating existing posts with new information then you are missing the point of using pingbacks/backtracks or even categories/tags or reblogs on your site.
Just my 2¢ worth.

We Volunteers respond honestly and openly and politely to threads posted here in this free speech environment where support is provide by us free of charge. We are not paid to engineer anyone’s happiness or assuage anyone’s ego.
My answer is: The ability to spam our email subscribers every time we edit a post does not exist at wordpress.com and I sincerely hope it never does.

If you are here to troll then find somehere else to do that please. -
I asked a legitimate question. You gave me attitude instead. Not cool. I’m not a troll just because i find your wit lacking.

Just my 2¢ worth.
That was me offering you an *opinion*. You don’t have to accept it.
So, if you only want the cold, dry answer to your question
Has the ability to send emails to followers for each update to existing posts been created yet?
instead of an opinion, here it is: No.
If you want to ping your readers that there is new content on your website, then write a new post and link it back to the previous post.
Cheers!

My subscribers actually WANT an update when a post is updated with new info, because it pertains to something they’re selling or buying. This is why I only needed a simple answer to my question and not someone’s opinion of what I was trying to accomplish. If you feel you *must* have the last word, please be my guest; otherwise, we’re done here.

There is only one advertising program called WordAds at WordPress.com and it’s for blogs on their own domains. This is the homepage for the WordAds program: http://www.wordads.co/
Aside from a blog being accepted into WordAds,no blogger initiated advertising, retailing or reselling the work or products created or services provided by anyone other than yourself is allowed on free hosted wordpress.com blogs. E-commerce transactions via shopping carts and the like cannot be conducted on free blogs from and being free hosted by wordpress.com

I am not selling anything. My site is not e-commerce. I only list items so people can contact each other – away from the site. I’m not involved in any way, except for providing a list.

My subscribers actually WANT an update when a post is updated with new info…
If you want to ping your readers that there is new content on your website, then write a new post and link it back to the previous post.
And now I’m going to offer you some unasked for advice as an experienced forum volunteer.
WordPress.com encourages users to post original content. The site you requested assistance on may fall into a gray area as far as potentially being a reposting of marketing material available elsewhere, i.e. Makeup Alley (MUA). You may want to run what you are doing by the WordPress.com Terms of Service people so that you can put aside the worry that your site might not be in compliance with the ToS. See the Types of Blogs for more info and an email address where you can contact them.
And as it is 02:43 in my backyard, that’s all I have to say, other than goodnight.
