Emails asking to verify my email address
-
I keep receiving emails from (email visible only to moderators and staff) (display name is WordPress.com) asking me to verify my email address. Something about the emails seems very phishy to me. Can anyone confirm whether or not these emails are legitimate? I have logged into my Word Press account and don’t seem to have any notifications telling me that my email address needs to be verified.
Thanks!

Hi there,
That email comes from our domain registrar and is to verify the email address you added in your contact information when you registered the domain, rachelversuscoffee.com. Failing to verify the email address will lead to your domain being suspended.
However, I also see that that domain expired on 15 May and was recently removed from your account. If you still want to use it I can try to get it back for you, but at this point in the expiration our registrar charges an $80 fee to restore the domain. Let me know if you want the domain back and agree to that fee and I can get the process started for you.

Thank you for the info! No, I do not want the rachelversuscoffee.com domain back. I had let it lapse back in May, like you said. I am no longer using it.
Thanks again!

Thanks for confirming.
You might receive that email again until the domain is completely expired and deleted at our registrar, but you can just ignore it. Unfortunately I can’t prevent the emails from sending, as they’re coming directly from the registrar.
You could also try clicking the verification button in the email. I’m not sure if it will still verify now that the domain is past expiration, but if it does verify at least you won’t receive the emails any more.
