Emails change

How can I change my email address? I am signing with a Gmail account. This account has been shared with my partner for years. I do not want to bother him with stacks of emails relating to Word Press in our joint account. I would like to establish my own and can’t find a way to change it as it says this email is already in use.
Can you please advise as to the best ways to do this.Sincerely and thank you for a great service.

Thanks for the reply kartodim, but it says that the email is already in use.. I do not recall using this address for WordPress. How I can use this address without the site telling me that it is already in use.

In that case there’s probably another account using that e-mail address. You can request a new password over here. and use that in combination with your username (you can use your e-mail address instead) to login.
Please follow the instructions carefully. You’ll receive two separate emails during the reset process, so make sure you read them both. If you don’t receive the emails right away, check your spam folders as well. The confirmation emails can get caught in them sometimes :)

Hello and a great thanks. I had not realised that this account was still valid. I thought I cancelled it years ago, evidently no. SO I will cancel it.
I have acted as directed and all is fine now. I can get through my actual site with my own email.
