Emails from Jetpack saying Your Site Is Offline

    I have had a succession of emails over the last 3-4 days saying that my site is offline. Being that I am new to all of this and I know nothing about this subject, could someone please let me know why this is happening?

    Hi there,

    Your site seems to be loading fine, about the emails from your Jetpack, it’s best to follow up with your host, perhaps they were experiencing downtimes.

    Unfortunately, there isn’t much that can be done for you here because your site isn’t hosted with WordPress.com, you’ll, therefore, need to seek assistance from WordPress.org forums which can be found at:

    https://wordpress.org/support/forums/

    These forums are for WordPress.com hosted sites. The difference between the two is explained here:

    Hi there,

    Please contact support at your hosting provider. The Jetpack plugin on your site sends those emails when it’s unable to connect to your site for a certain time, which would indicate a problem at your hosting provider.

    If your host says everything is fine on their end, please contact Jetpack support at https://jetpack.com/contact-support/?rel=support so they can check if something is perhaps wrong with Jetpack.

    The WordPress.org forums will not be able to help in this case, as they can only help with the WordPress software, not with your hosting or with Jetpack issues.

    @gracema2002, please do not refer people to the WordPress.org forums for issues that are not related to the open source WordPress software.

    Hi. Thanks to you both for the reply. My website is through Bluehost and I was under the impression that they use WordPress.com.
    As for contacting them, they were my first port of call. At the point when I contacted them my site must have been back up and working as they reported no on going problem. They then said that the issue could be with Jetpack and to contact them. And here I am. Somewhere in amongst all of the toing and froing lies an answer.
