Emails from my wordpress account to subscribers are corrupt
-
Hi I have received a message from a subscriber telling me that my emails are corrupt and they are unable to follow the links and unsubscribe. Here is the exact message:
Hi, sorry for writing this here, but in the last few weeks your e-mails arrive corrupted and the links don’t work – not even the unsubscribe link. Can you please check it? I love your posts, but it’s now a hassle to find them so I wanted to try and unsubscribe and then try to resubscribe but it doesn’t work… Please help 🙂
I need assistance please. Before I try to unsubscribe this user I thought I would put it out to the forum in case you need to view the message and particular subscriber having the issue. I have tried subscribing myself and I also am unable to access the links from my PC .

Hi Wilma,
We’ve already been helping you with this in https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/links-in-email-notification-to-my-followers-not-working/, and I’ve been subscribed to your site and checking all the links in every email for every new post since then.
All the links work fine for me, including the ones in the email notification for the post you published yesterday, https://creartfuldodger.wordpress.com/2019/06/23/the-argument/
It could be worth asking that reader if they’re also using Outlook, which would help confirm our suspicion from the earlier thread that Outlook is somehow doing something to those links so they don’t work properly any more, but on my end I don’t see anything wrong with any of the links in the subscription emails for your site.
Another possibility: are either of you using any kind of anti-tracking software on your computers or as a browser add-on? Your anti-virus software could also have that type of functionality built in.
The links in the emails are not naked links like the one I posted for the post above, but contain information to help us track where the visit via that link came from, and it’s possible that if you’re using something that aggressively blocks that type of tracking, that could be preventing the link from properly redirecting to the correct post.

Hello
Yes I know that we have worked on this issue before but now it seems that I have other subscribers having difficulty and I would like to resolve it. I will ask this subscriber if they are using Outlook. I will try to find out if I have anti tracking software or browser add-on.W.

Hello I did have a Do Not Track option turned on in my browser. I have removed it. I have contacted my subscriber to see if they are using Outlook. We shall see if things improve.

Good news. I made a new post to test it out and I am able to open the links in Outlook so it looks like the Do Not Track was the culprit. I will wait to hear back from my subscriber.
Thanks for the advice.
Wilma
