emails sent from share buttons don't get to diestination

    I get a prompt that the email has been sent and it give accurate address, but no email.
    i subscriber sent me an email alerting me to this problem and also said that yesterday he shared a post of mine via email and a different post was sent. Instead of the “7 Small Things Happy Couples Do” his wife got a previous post about how to deal with repair after infidelity! Yikes.

    I see another blogger has a thread with this same issue. Perhaps it’s system wide.

    Hi there,

    I’m sorry for the trouble! Could you let me know exactly what post you tried to share via email and what email address you sent it to? (You can put the email address in your reply and our forum software will hide it from everyone except staff.) Those details will help me investigate what’s going on here.

    I tried several posts just now. No emails arrived. Prompt says your email has been sent and the address is correct.

    7 Small Things Happy Couples Do… I sent to [email redacted] and (email visible only to moderators and staff) and no email received.
    Other share buttons seem to work.

    Let’s first look at email problem. After that I have a question about the Facebook share feature.

    Hi there,

    I tried using the share button to send this post to myself via email, and I received the emailed post as expected. It looks like something might be going on with the specific email addresses you’re trying to send the post to.

    I just used the share button to send the post to both of the email addresses you mentioned. Can you let me know if you get those emails or not?

    I didn’t get either one you sent. A friend tried and he didn’t get one either.

    Hi there,

    I checked the two email addresses you gave me in our system, and I realized what’s going on: Both of those addresses are already subscribed via email to your blog. The email isn’t resent to those addresses with the email sharing button because they already received an email when you published the blog post.

    If your friend isn’t subscribed to your blog via email and still isn’t receiving the email using that email sharing button, please let me know what email address they tried and I can investigate that, as well.

    That explains my not getting the emails. The original problem was the subscriber claims he sent one post and receiver got a different one. I only tried sending to myself to check out his concern.

    Ah that’s right. I can confirm that I received the correct post when I tested the email button, so it was likely just a glitch or a mistake in that process. I’m sorry about that!

    Since we haven’t been able to reproduce the problem I’m not sure exactly what went awry, but if it happens again please let me know and I can use that information to further investigate the issue.

    Okay. I bet it made for interesting dinner table conversation for my subscriber to explain why he sent his wife a post about surviving Infideleity as opposed to sweet things happy couples do. :-)
