Emails stating someone has requested to reset my password, it isn’t me!

I have received two e-mails in the past week stating that someone has asked to reset the password for my username.
I certainly have not asked for this, and I am unsure why I have received these e-mails. Is this a common problem? Is it some kind of system error? Or should I be concerned? Is someone actually trying to somehow access my account?
Should I reset my password? I feel like I shouldn’t, maybe its safer to ignore these e-mails and leave my password as is.Advice?

Thank you. I was going to do this but thought I would post here first in case this was some kind of known error.

You might also think of changing your email password. If someone were trying to hack you, they would also be trying to get that as well so that they could get the new password when it was sent. Make it something that is not easily guessed which includes both letters and numbers, and maybe throw in a special character such as * or & or # or something.

This is a common problem as far as I know. You must be holding a domain name in WP which others like to have and they’re sending password reset requests. The support will most likely tell you to ignore as there’s nothing anyone can do to take your account by sending resetting requests. But obviously keep a strong password for yourself.

Also, and I should have mentioned this (not enough coffee) the above is the case if you are talking about a blog hosted here at wordpress.COM. If you are talking about a self-hosted blog, then that would not be the case.

Yes, I wordpress.com blog. Support did write back and basically said to ignore it. They said someone may have forgotten their username and think it is my username and is therefore trying to re-set the password. I might re-set the passowrd anyway, just to be safe. nd, I will change my e-mail passwords too. They have been the same for a while, time for a change!
