Emails To Verify Subscription

Hey, when I follow a blog by email, I don’t receive the subscription email in my inbox. I have checked the junk folders as well, but the email is nowhere to be found. Appreciate if anyone could help me through this, thanks.

Hi there,
It looks like your account is currently blocking us from sending you any subscription emails. So at the moment you won’t be able to subscribe via email to any site, and existing email subscriptions won’t work.
You can change this under your account settings at https://wordpress.com/me/notifications/subscriptions/

Yes you’re right, I didn’t even get an email to notify me of your response to my question. Thanks for that link, I’ve unchecked the ‘block email’ check box.

I still get an error when I try to follow by email. I get a message saying “your subscription did not succeed, please try again with a valid email address”
That’s odd, I do have a valid email address in my account settings..

yeah well, but subscriptions still aren’t working. I get an error message saying “please use a valid email address”, although I am using a valid email address, so I don’t understand, is it going to take some time for the changes to take effect?

What is the URL of the blog you’re trying to follow and what email address are you typing in? You can type the address in its own line, it will only be visible to WordPress.com staff.

I can’t seem to follow any blog. When I click the follow button I see a message saying an email has been sent to me for verification of subscription to the blog. But no email is received.
I am not typing in any email because it doesn’t ask me to. But as far as I understand WordPress should use the email I’ve linked with my account which is (email visible only to moderators and staff)
For instance here’s a blog I’ve been trying to follow https://mitchteemley.com/ by clicking the follow button, on doing so as I stated above nothing happens because no email is received and I’m not asked to enter an email either.

To add to my previous post. It worked on another blog. I see now the blog I listed in my previous post has a section for putting in an email. I did not notice it earlier, my bad. However if I put in my email and then click follow, it asks me to enter a valid email and try again. The email I’m using is (email visible only to moderators and staff)

Ah, sorry, I misunderstood what was happening. So the error you’re seeing is from the Reader, right? When following blogs in the Reader you wouldn’t receive any confirmation email. Those are sent if you subscribe to a blog by typing your email address directly to the widget on the site.
When I check your account it seems that you’re already following the blog mitchteemley.com. You have, in fact, subscribed to a number of other blogs during the last 12h.
It would be great if you could send us a screenshot of the error so we know what exactly do you see on your end. You can use an online tool for that (such as https://snipboard.io/) and paste the link into your reply.
Also, after you see the error in the Reader, could you check if the site appears in your followed sites anyway? https://wordpress.com/read
