Embed and related post may be lost after Site Editor?
-
Hello@Kokkieh, referencing you as we have discussed this a bit before.
I have posed the header as a question as I am asking you to confirm from your view.
Seems from here my ’embed: is now just showing a link (no boxed image or text) and the ‘Related Posts’ section at the foot of the page appears to have vanished.
Can you confirm this is your view please, and if so, offer some ideas what I messed up and how to un mess!
Tomorrow I will publish again and will come back – in another thread – info re the small font not showing.
Cheers
PWP.com: Yes
Correct account: YesThe blog I need help with is: (visible only to moderators and staff)

P/s: I should have added that the embed shows up in my draft or edit page – not in public view.

Hi there,
Can you share the title/URL for the specific page where this embed isn’t working?
And what are you trying to embed, i.e. a link or custom code, and from where is the content being embedded?
the ‘Related Posts’ section at the foot of the page appears to have vanished.
Are you referring to the built-in Related Posts feature, working via the Related Posts block? Or a “Related Posts” section you created and populated manually?
Related Posts, the built-in feature, only work on blog posts, not on static pages. So if you want to display a Related Posts section on your blog posts, you need to add that block to the Single template in the site editor. I don’t see that block added to the template on your site at the moment.

G’day thank for your reply.
Can you share the title/URL for the specific page where this embed isn’t working? “
Yep, pretty much any page actually as I use the embed feature a lot.
Now none are showing the embed.
For you, probably the latest post will illustrate it.However, i will take 2 shots, one of my edit view and one of published view, upload them to my image editor for you – a picture, 1k words etc.
I am trying to embed a link to previous posts – have done it successfully for maybe 100 or m,ore times in the past.
Yes the “built-in Related Posts feature.”
Not sure of the tech details, I set it from dash > settings > reading “show related content after post.” Have included image in my media of that too~Related Posts, the built-in feature, only work on blog posts, not on static pages. So if you want to display a Related Posts section on your blog posts, you need to add that block to the Single template in the site editor. I don’t see that block added to the template on your site at the moment.
Okayyyyyy ish Not sure I understand, seems you are suggesting it is related to site editor? I need to read the support link you provided.
So far, the only addition I have made to Site Editor was the query block you “talked me through” to get my latest posts page working.I will read and try changes if need be and let you know.
Starting to be a bit like Pandora’s Box yes?
The fun of Beta!! :>)Cheers

Images uploaded; hope you can see them.
Following the logic of your comment re “related posts” if that requires a block addition in site editor to work, can we conclude that EMBED block also needs to be added there to make it publicly visible?
Cheers

Hello there,
Many thanks for uploading those images.
I am unable to replicate what you’re seeing there:
Can you tell me what browser you’re using there where you’re seeing that behaviour please.
-
*sigh*
No, you won’t.
Neither can I.
That is the problem.Or was.
Following the advice form @kokkieh in his reply I have it sorted.
For now anyway!I appreciate the enthusiasm in so many people offering support, but I feel we are reaching a point where the left hand doesn’t know what the right is doing.
Same with the other question re small font not appearing in excerpt after changes to Site Editor.
Again, great to see the huge interest, but I suggest that once one team member has picked up a case, they continue with it to conclusion.
Other people jumping in just adds extra frustration to the user who is trying to work through the problem in their site. In this case ME!
We end up reinventing the wheel. From my perspective, it is beginning to sound a little competitive.
That’s not a good base for customer support. -
Hi @Kokkieh.
I won’t pretend to understand exactly what i did but everything is working now.
I became lost in the middle, page and simple page, I edited the wrong one.
But for now- it works!
Brilliant.
Thanks for your help mate.
I am leaving this until Monday now- have a good weekend.Cheers
