embed blog in my website’s homepage using iframe

    Hello,
I am the webmaster for this website: http://mhtransformation.wa.gov. My boss wants me to set up a blog for him and I have been experimenting with a private blog at wordpress.com to see how it would work. He would really like the blog to replace the section of our home page that contains the Project News so that the blog can just replace these news items. Technically, this is possible by using an iframe, but there are some layout issues to work through. For instance, if a user comes to our regular site, then there would be no reason to have a banner on the blog as well as some other information that would end up being redunant. But if a visitor found our blog without coming through our regular site (say through a search engine, or linked to from another site), then of course we would want the blog to have a banner as well as information about the MHTP. Can any of you who are more familiar with blogging (this will be my first) think of any solutions for this? The best solution would be for our IT division to just host the WordPress for me and only have it here, but alas, they won’t touch it with a 10-foot pole.

We cannot (1) edit our underlying templates or (2) use iframes on this multi-user blogging platform at wordpress.com.

The kind of control you want is only available in the free software you can download from http://wordpress.org https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic.php?id=3700

I believe the poster is trying to put their wp.com hosted blog within an iframe on their site.

    Okay … sorry I misunderstood.

    Not a problem. :)

OP, one solution that occurs to me right now is that you could buy the CSS upgrade and replicate your websites layout so that the user won’t notice the ‘difference’. And because the blog has the same layout as your website, you could put the whole blog in a big iframe.

    I hope I was clear.

I gotta admit that I’m really against iframes. At the very least, you’re going to hit folks who won’t be able to see it if they’re using firefox with that dang adblocker or Mcafee as that blocks iframes as well.

What about just using http://blog.mhtransformation.wa.gov and using the blog’s rss feed within your site?
