“embed” code disappears
-
Hello
1°) I am writing on a wordpress blog but NOT a wordpress.com (it has its own server).
2°) I am not the webmaster. I am just one of several writers and I do NOT have admin access.
3°) The recent update disabled the Viper’s Video Quicktags. Thre webmaster decided to go back to the way he did formerly : for example, he copies the whole “embed” code from youtube, such as :
<object width=”425″ height=”355″><param name=”movie” value=”http://www.youtube.com/v/JX3VmDgiFnY&rel=1″></param><param name=”wmode” value=”transparent”></param><embed src=”http://www.youtube.com/v/JX3VmDgiFnY&rel=1″ type=”application/x-shockwave-flash” wmode=”transparent” width=”425″ height=”355″></embed></object>
(by the way, the wordpress.com syntax [youtube=adress] does not work on independent blogs)
4°) my webmaster says that pasting this code works perfectly. And indeed, he publishes videos that way.
5°) This has NEVER worked for me : if I paste the above code above, or any similar one (and making sure the visual editor is not active), the code just disappears when I save.
6°) My webmaster says he has tested my account, and it works fine according to him.
7°) I have tried with Firefox, and Safari. Same problem. (I am a Mac user).
8°) I am getting mad.

i think you have a self-hosted blog, in which case you have to go to http://wordpress.org/support to place your query. this is the forum for bloggers hosted by wp.com. please correct me if i’m mistaken.

You need to inquire over at http://wordpress.org/support as we are not allowed to use flash here at .com, and will not have an answer to your question.

Don’t get mad. Get smart. Read the sticky post at the head of this forum please

One other thing, Safari and wordpress don’t get along as well as they should (not necessarily the fault of wordpress). For working with wordpress, I would stick with Firefox and make sure you are using the latest version.
{We could be back up singers}

Safari and Opera don’t play well with wordpress. But firefox and IE7 do. The choices are to keep experiencing frustration it or to experience success by simply changing and upgrading browsers.
