Embed code disappears after clicking

    Hi all!

    I have a friend who is working on a WordPress website, and he wanted to add an infographic in the right sidebar with the option to get an embed code, so people can embed the infographic on their websites or blogs.
    The site in question is http://melbournehousekeepers.com.au/ . As you can see they have already added a banner, which leads to the infographic in the right sidebar, and they have added a field with the embed code in question.

    But the issue is that once you click on the embed code, instead of marking it so you can copy it, it disappears.

    Any ideas why this might be happening? We have many theories here, but no matter what we try, the result is the same or worse.

    Hi @janewilson911, that site actually isn’t hosted here at WordPress.com , but I can see they have some code in place that’s doing that.

    They should be able to use different code to display the textarea, but if not, can you try asking in the forums for WordPress.org installations? They are here:

    Hi and thanks for the reply!

    From what I know it is a WordPress site, because we logged in to the admin panel through wp-admin, but they probably host it themselves somehow (I’m not that competent on the matter, I’m still learning).

    We tried a few different codes to embed that infographic, but all of them either display the image directly under the banner, or the code disappears when you click on it. We thought it may be from the CSS, but we couldn’t find the issue there. We spent a couple of hours on it, but the result is still the same. We also made that area read-only, but the code still disappears on click.

    If someone can give us a hand it would be really appreciated, because my friend almost got a nervous breakdown yesterday over it.

    It is a WordPress site, but it isn’t hosted at WordPress.com . So for self-hosted sites, you’ll use the forums at WordPress.org:
    https://wordpress.org/support
