Embed code disappears when previewing or publishing
-
I’m having trouble using embed codes. When I select the HTML tab and paste an embed code from a site such as Diigo (like for a linkroll), all seems fine till I attempt to preview or post. The embedded item doesn’t appear in my post, and when I go back to edit the post, the code is no longer there in the HTML tab. Is there a trick to this? I have a very plain-jane wordpress blog, no plug-ins, hosted by wordpress.com.

@ondeckmaterial, Anything that contains scripts such as flash, javascript will be stripped out since it is not allowed due to security concerns: http://en.support.wordpress.com/code/ .
@northantselectionresults, Advertising is, except for a couple very narrow exceptions, not allowed on wordpress.COM. For the exceptions, see the last sentence under “Affiliate marketing blogs” in the bottom set of bullet points in the “types of blogs” link below.

are you freaking kidding me? no embedding of videos from vimeo etc.? is this nursery school? this is ridiculous!

@bdybwad: No it’s not ridiculous, it’s more secure. No embedding the way you do it in other sites doesn’t mean no embedding at all. See here:

Hi,
I was wondering if there is any other way to safely post a flash object, or if there is no way at all. I´m trying to post a xmas card in my blog.
If there isn´t, it´s ok, just thought I should ask. Thank you.
