embed files when page is accessed
-
How can I create a page that retrieves and displays the content of a file whenever the page is accessed?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi there, it depends on what type of file you’re embedding, but we support several options. What type of file are you hoping to display?

It wouldn’t be possible with a Word file, but you can embed a PDF onto a page as explained here:
-
I want to be able to change the pdf file in google drive and have the changes automatically be reflected on the website. Is that possible?
-
If the Google Drive URL does not change, any changes you make there should be reflected on your embed on your site.

When I look at the page from a browser where I am logged into Google Drive, the pdf looks OK. When I look at the page from a browser where I am not logged into Google Drive, I get an error msg. Hi there,

To be safe, can you confirm that the PDF is “published” (i.e. public) within Google Drive? The issue you describe sounds like something on Google’s end, your WordPress site is not what is blocking access in this case.
You can follow the steps Google mentions here to check on that: https://support.google.com/docs/answer/183965
Hope that helps. Please let us know if you have any more questions.

That worked – thank you. When I embedded a PDF file, the hyperlinks in the file didn’t work, it appeared narrow, and the top line showed the WordPress banner. See https://www.dropbox.com/s/zxf7xfyqp7s3u6c/Screenshot%20%28585%29.png?dl=0
How do I fix these problems? -
Hi there,
Your screen shot isn’t for the WordPress.com site, http://abilicorp.wordpress.com/, but for https://abilicorp.com/, a site built using the open source WordPress.org software, and hosted at GoDaddy.com. As that site isn’t hosted on our servers, we don’t have any control at all over how it works.
Please ask the WordPress.org community, who makes the version of WordPress you’re using, for more advice on this in their forums at https://wordpress.org/support/forums/
That said, there might not be much you can do about this. How the embed behaves doesn’t depend on WordPress, but on Google. WordPress just provides a frame to contain the embed on your site, but the content of that frame comes directly from Google Drive, and it behaves according to how Google designed it to work on their end.
