Embed from CowboysSportsRadio.com not working
-
Site: http://www.CowboysBlitz.com
Theme: CanardOur website recently began partnering up with http://www.CowboysSportsRadio.com which is a http://www.VSporto.com brand.
Today I went to embed the content we created for them in one of our blog posts. The WordPress-friendly code (to be entered in text, not visual) is this:
<iframe width=’100%’ height=’400′ frameborder=’0′ src=’//cowboyssportsradio.com/episode_player/17661/’></iframe>
When I switch to visual after posting the iframe, I see the embedded player. But when I preview or publish the post, it only shows up as a modified hyperlink.
See the post here: https://cowboysblitz.com/2016/12/20/cowboyscast-dave-birkett-from-the-detroit-free-press-muses-on-the-lions/
This isn’t the first issue I’ve had with embeds lately. The player from AudioBoom.com all of a sudden stopped working a few weeks ago and would only show up as a hyperlink. That appears to have been fixed now.
Is there something I’m not doing right, or is WordPress not properly formatting the embedded player?
Bobby

Let us start with this.
1. Do you have a Premium or Business upgrade?
https://en.support.wordpress.com/audio/2. Is the audio player listed here https://en.support.wordpress.com/?s=audio+players?

Hi Bobby,
As timethief mentioned, iframe embedding codes are removed from WordPress.com sites automatically to keep things secure. So, we’ll need to figure out another way to get this content on your page.
The simplest solution would be providing a link to your partner’s post about the podcast, with something like “Head over to Cowboyscast to listen to the podcast” for the link text. This would probably be my choice of action if I were in your shoes.
If you have a Premium or Business WordPress.com plan for the site, you have another option. These plans allow you to use the [audio] shortcode to link to the actual podcast MP3 directly, as described here. For the episode you posted, the link you would use is: http://core.vsporto.s3.amazonaws.com/segment-audio-files/26532/1612201012.mp3
With this option, you would lose the podcast graphic and would have to get the direct MP3 link from your partner for each podcast you want to link to. Not very ideal, but it might be what works best for you – especially if you’re not going to be partnering up like this very often.
You can also move your site over to a self-hosted version of WordPress, where you would be able to embed the iframe with your existing code.
With that said, I work with self-hosted WordPress quite a bit, and there are quite a few more logistical challenges to overcome down that route. So, unless embedding the full player is absolutely crucial to your vision or partnership, I personally think it would be overkill to move your site to self-hosted over this obstacle.

P.S. Eric, embedding is provided for WordPress.com VIP, but I don’t see it available on any other plans.
