Embed Google MapsEngine lite map

  Hi,

  Hoping someone may be able to help me. I have created a route of my trip on MapsEngine, and it gives the following text to embed on a blog:

  <iframe src=”http://mapsengine.google.com/map/view?mid=zXHylrj5aCT0.kIFiqWLzSerk” width=”640″ height=”480″></iframe>

  When I paste this in to a new post, it does not embed the map? Any advice appreciated.

  Thanks for the very speedy response! Unfortunately that solution works for Google Maps, but not for Mapsengine lite, does anyone know if possible to embed mapsengine google maps?

  At the bottom of the page, its described how you embed your map into a website (works with WordPress).

  Did you get it to work for you? I’m still having trouble embedding one of the Google Maps Engine maps into my blog. The code just disappears whenever I click save on the post.

  Not sure how it works on a wordpress.com site as I am hosting wordpress my self.

  Make sure you are using Maps engine’s export function to get the properly formatted html code. Before I found this (see link in my post above) I experimented with iframs and what should have been the source for the map, with out success. When you have the html code, go into your post/page and enter text view. Insert the html for the iframe and save. When you switch back to visual view, it should show a yellow box that reserves the map’s position.

  Try this sample html for a test map I have created:

  Thank you for providing the link, although it too disappears. Following the export function off of Google Maps Engine doesn’t work either, unfortunately.

  I am hosting wordpress my self.

  Indeed and you have just uncovered the fact that WordPress.com and WordPress.org are different and what works on self hosted installs does not work on self hosted WordPress.com blogs. http://support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/

  P.S. As far as I am aware the only Google maps we can embed into free hosted WordPress.com blogs are described here http://en.support.wordpress.com/google-maps/

  Not yet, so I’ve gone back to using standard Google Maps for some of my things and have a link to the one I want to continue using that is on Google Maps Engine.
