embed grooveshark widget into a post
-
Hi guys,
First of all, please forgive me if I’ll make some mistakes. My english is dreadful xD
Can anyone tell me if there’s still a way to embed the grooveshark widget of a single song in a single post.I’ve already read on the other topics about this problem the answer to copy and paste the ID of the song into a gigya html code. But unfortunately, the ID of the song that worked with the gigya code could only be found on widgets.grooveshark.com/, and the website has now been closed.
Grooveshark. com still gives you a code to embed a widget anyway, but it doesn’t works with worpress. com. The crazy thing is that the code works well with Blogger, which I recently left for their endless problems. Honestly, I’m fine with wordpress.com, but not be able to embed my favorite music in my posts is a big problem for me. I know the possibility of hosting files, and upload mp3 on the internet, but why should I?
I would hate to go back to Blogger, so, can anyone tell me if there is a way to make the grooveshark widget code works on wordpress.com? Or at least find a new way to get an ID song’s number working with the old Gigya code?
Thanks in advance for your suggestions, and please, be simple in the answers. Have I said that my english is dreadful?
byeThe blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Panaghiotisadam, thank you so much for your kind reply and willingness.
That partially works.
But first let’s see if I understand correctly (as I said I don’t speak English, so it’s hard for me to understand, excuse me XD)Let’s take for example the code of this song (this is the widget code that you can get on grooveshark, exactly as provided by the site)
<object width=”250″ height=”40″><param name=”movie” value=”http://grooveshark.com/songWidget.swf” /><param name=”wmode” value=”window” /><param name=”allowScriptAccess” value=”always” /><param name=”flashvars” value=”hostname=cowbell.grooveshark.com&songIDs=7512549&style=metal&p=0″ /><embed src=”http://grooveshark.com/songWidget.swf” type=”application/x-shockwave-flash” width=”250″ height=”40″ flashvars=”hostname=cowbell.grooveshark.com&songIDs=7512549&style=metal&p=0″ allowScriptAccess=”always” wmode=”window” /></object>
now what I should do is to copy the part begining wit “http:// and ending with object, and paste it on the following Gigya code
[gigya src="etc.etc.etc." ]So the final result should look something like this:
[gigya src="http://grooveshark.com/songWidget.swf" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="250" height="40" flashvars="hostname=cowbell.grooveshark.com&songIDs=7512549&style=metal&p=0" allowScriptAccess="always" wmode="window" /></object]
And put this final code in the page editor when I write the post. (not the html)
Have I done all correctly?
I still have doubts because this solution works only partially (at least in my blog). Let me explain. I mean that the player appears in the final post, but if for example I embed five songs into a post, 3 of them remain in a never ending buffering state. And if I make the refreshing of the webpage, it happens that the songs that had not completed the buffering at first end it, and you can hear them well, and the others don’t complete the buffering. …And if I refresh another time the webpage, the other way round. And that didn’t used to happen with the code that was provided on http://widgets.grooveshark.com/ , the now closed website for widget. I used to paste the ID song’s number that I was used to get on that site in the following Gygia code, replacing the XXXXXXXX
[gigya src="http://listen.grooveshark.com/songWidget.swf" width="250" height="40" flashvars="hostname=cowbell.grooveshark.com&widgetID=XXXXXXXX&style=metal&p=0" wmode="window"]
And with this last code I’ve never had problems with buffering. Unfortunately the ID song’s number featured in the widget code you can get now on grooveshark.com doesn’t work with this last Gygia code I have written. So I was wondering if there was a way to solve the buffering problem, and make a Gygia code run well as before.

Check my model more carefully:
https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/embedding-grooveshark-widgets?replies=9#post-632312
The final result in the example you pasted should be this:
[gigya src="http://grooveshark.com/songWidget.swf" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="250" height="40" flashvars="hostname=cowbell.grooveshark.com&songIDs=7512549&style=metal&p=0" allowScriptAccess="always" wmode="window" ]But the buffering problem is a different issue. I guess there’s a limit to how many players can load successfully at the same time. You can add all the songs to the same player, by pasting all the ID numbers together (separated by commas), or you can create and embed a playlist instead.

Tank you for your kindness and help. I’m a beginner with english and it’s very difficult to understand.
So, let me see if I’ve understood right this time. what you’re saying is that (always taking as example the song that I previously posted) I should copy the following part of the original grooveshark widget code:hostname=cowbell.grooveshark.com&songIDs=7512549&style=metal&p=0″ allowScriptAccess=”always” wmode=”window
(the part beginning with ‘hostname’ and ending with ‘window’)
And then paste that part without a change, in the gygia code you gave me in your last answer, replacing the three XXX like this:
[gigya src="http://grooveshark.com/songWidget.swf" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="250" height="40" flashvars="XXX" ]
Now it’s correct, right? It seems so to me. The result it’s the same.one you posted.
For the buffering problem, I don’t know what to say. with the code that I used to get in the closed site I was able to embed a lot of songs with no problems.
Now if you have time, but only if you have time, I don’t want to take advantage of your kindness, can you give me the code to create a playlist? believe me, I checked the page you linked me but it’s hard for me to understand. So, if you could give me a gygia code for a playlist, and explainin me in very simple way which parts I should copy from the original grooveshark widget code, and where I should paste them, ( always taking as example the first widget code that I posted) I would be very grateful.
If it’s a job too demanding, thanks anyway for your help. As I said, you’ve been very kind and I really appreciate it.
bye -
Yes you can keep that model and replace the XXX with the actual flashvars you’ll get from each widget code.
As for the playlist, do you have a Grooveshark account?
-
No, I haven’t a Grooveshark account. Are you saying that it is necessary to create a playlist? The thing is I can’t understand if the Italian version of Grooveshark is free as the English one. I tried to send a message to them, but I got no answer.
And i also discovered that the Gygia code can be applied to youtube. This is just to share information, even if perhaps you already knew. -
Yes, you need to have an account in order to create and save a playlist. Then you get the widget code for the playlist and convert it the same way. Example:
[gigya src="http://grooveshark.com/widget.swf" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="180" height="250" flashvars="hostname=cowbell.grooveshark.com&playlistID=56033096&bbg=E0E4CC&bth=E0E4CC&pfg=E0E4CC&lfg=E0E4CC&bt=85a4b8&pbg=85a4b8&pfgh=85a4b8&si=85a4b8&lbg=85a4b8&lfgh=85a4b8&sb=85a4b8&bfg=A7DBD8&pbgh=A7DBD8&lbgh=A7DBD8&sbh=A7DBD8&p=0" allowScriptAccess="always" wmode="window" ] -
Thank you. This evening I will check carefully the Italian site of grooveshark and I’ll try to understend if it’s free or it requires payment.

Do you mean my blog or Grooveshark?
In any case, you can reach my blog by clicking on my nikname Chagall
For Grooveshark, the address is always http://grooveshark.com/ but if you live in italy you are redirected to the italian webpage of the site.
From what I know, the italian version of Grooveshark has been bought by Telecom (a large communications company)
A year ago or maybe more the site, at that time still available in english, was closed and after several months it was reopened, in italian language.
But the Italian customer service is not working well, at least for me. -
p.s.
If by chanche you have a gooveshark account, can you tell me if it’s really free? The thing is that the Italian customer service never answers to emails, and there’s not even a faq or help page. The terms of the service, although the site is italian, are written in english, and I’ve read conflicting reports on the Internet. There are those who say that it’s free, and others says otherwise. -
Well, I do have a free Grooveshark account, and I did want to check it – that’s why I asked you for the link. But since I cannot access the Italian version of the site there’s nothing I can do.
-
Hi, here I am again! XD Lol, I hope you don’t hate me with all this work I’m putting you thru.
There isn’t a italian grooveshark customer service, nor even a discussion forum. So I sent an email to the english one, and they’ve been very kind and gave me all the necessary information to enroll me!So, here is my first playlist:
<object width=”250″ height=”250″><param name=”movie” value=”http://grooveshark.com/widget.swf” /><param name=”wmode” value=”window” /><param name=”allowScriptAccess” value=”always” /><param name=”flashvars” value=”hostname=cowbell.grooveshark.com&playlistID=56122245&bbg=000000&bth=000000&pfg=000000&lfg=000000&bt=FFFFFF&pbg=FFFFFF&pfgh=FFFFFF&si=FFFFFF&lbg=FFFFFF&lfgh=FFFFFF&sb=FFFFFF&bfg=666666&pbgh=666666&lbgh=666666&sbh=666666&p=0″ /><embed src=”http://grooveshark.com/widget.swf” type=”application/x-shockwave-flash” width=”250″ height=”250″ flashvars=”hostname=cowbell.grooveshark.com&playlistID=56122245&bbg=000000&bth=000000&pfg=000000&lfg=000000&bt=FFFFFF&pbg=FFFFFF&pfgh=FFFFFF&si=FFFFFF&lbg=FFFFFF&lfgh=FFFFFF&sb=FFFFFF&bfg=666666&pbgh=666666&lbgh=666666&sbh=666666&p=0″ allowScriptAccess=”always” wmode=”window” /></object>
What should I do now is cut the part that starts with the word “hostname” and ends with “window”:
hostname=cowbell.grooveshark.com&playlistID=56122245&bbg=000000&bth=000000&pfg=000000&lfg=000000&bt=FFFFFF&pbg=FFFFFF&pfgh=FFFFFF&si=FFFFFF&lbg=FFFFFF&lfgh=FFFFFF&sb=FFFFFF&bfg=666666&pbgh=666666&lbgh=666666&sbh=666666&p=0″ allowScriptAccess=”always” wmode=”windowand replace the three XXX of the following code you gave me:
[gigya src="http://grooveshark.com/widget.swf" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="180" height="250" flashvars="XXX"]So the final result will be something like this:
[gigya src="http://grooveshark.com/widget.swf" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="180" height="250" flashvars="hostname=cowbell.grooveshark.com&playlistID=56122245&bbg=000000&bth=000000&pfg=000000&lfg=000000&bt=FFFFFF&pbg=FFFFFF&pfgh=FFFFFF&si=FFFFFF&lbg=FFFFFF&lfgh=FFFFFF&sb=FFFFFF&bfg=666666&pbgh=666666&lbgh=666666&sbh=666666&p=0" allowScriptAccess="always" wmode="window"]if you tell me that everything’s correct, I will write an italian-tutorial-post on my blog, to help those like me who don’t know much (well, nothing XD) about these kind of things.
Tank you again. -
Yes, correct: once you get the embed code for the playlist, it’s the same trick.
And “hate you”? For God’s sake! a) We’re volunteers here: if I didn’t like to reply, I wouldn’t reply! b) Thanks to your questions, I made a new post – which you might find useful:
-
The “I hope you don’t hate me” part was ironic. ;)
Tank you for the post, yes it’s very useful.
