Embed Javascript

Can we embed javascript as we have newsletter signupforms to let the users sign up and to invoke some callback functions in the “wordpress.com”.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  • You can’t embed any JavaScript on WordPress.com: http://en.support.wordpress.com/code/

If you have an account with a third-party subscription service you will have to add a link on your blog the form on their website.

    Thanks for your reply,
Anyway is it possible to insert javascript in my site if I become a paid user and I have my own domain.

  • Afraid not. This code restriction applies to all of WordPress.com, regardless of upgrade. Even if you get your own domain you’ll still be hosted by WordPress.com.

The reason for this restriction is that Java code can potentially be used to introduce malware into the system, and as we’re all sharing the same software that means if one site gets infected/broken, it will potentially affect ALL sites on WordPress.com.

If you absolutely must use that form, then your only option would be to buy your own domain AND hosting and go completely self-hosted using the WordPress.org software. In that case you’ll download the software and install it to your own domain and then you can do whatever you like with it (within the limitations of you webhost’s terms of service, of course). But you will also be responsible for all the technical maintenance of your site, which you don’t have to worry about at WordPress.com.
See here for more information: http://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/
    https://wordpress.org/hosting/

Which service provider are you using for the subscription service? There might be a workaround. See, for example, if this workaround for MailChimp subscription forms won’t work in your case as well: https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/mail-chimp-signup-form-embed-code-doesnt-work?replies=5#post-350903
