Embed video from One True Media
-
Hi-
I have a video I made on One True Media that I am trying to embed in a couple different wordpress sites. I tried the video button and entered the url, which didn’t embed it. I also tried to cut and paste the embed code. That didn’t work.
I googled this and also read through the support & forums. It looks like people have had success doing this by going through youtube. I did not want to do that as some photos in my montage are of little kids at school events, and although I know wordpress is open to the world, I believe only my target audience visits my sites (and not too many of those!), where I feel on youtube my photos could easily show up in a search and be more public than I’m comfortable with.
I also found the support doc on adding the vodpod add-on to Firefox, but that is only compatible up to Firefox 3.6 and I’m past that version. I didn’t research the video pay option that wordpress provides. Everything I am putting together is for small school non-profits and I can’t spend any extra money.
Any ideas beyond what I have found so far? I will keep looking around but any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
Thank you!

If the embed code is flash, it can be embedded. If it’s javascript or iframe, it cannot.
If it’s flash (tag “object” or “embed”), you can paste the code here so we can tell you how to embed it.

Ok, thank you for your offer. I believe it is flash. The code is this:
<div><embed src=”http://www.onetruemedia.com/share_view_player?p=f788440cc69600ef697720″ quality=”high” scale=”noscale” width=”408″ height=”382″ wmode=”transparent” name=”FLVPlayer” salign=”LT” flashvars=”&p=f788440cc69600ef697720&skin_id=1703&host=http://www.onetruemedia.com” type=”application/x-shockwave-flash” pluginspage=”http://www.macromedia.com/go/getflashplayer”></embed><div style=”margin:0px;font:12px/13px verdana,arial,sans-serif;line-height:20px;padding-bottom:15px;width:408px;text-align:center;”>Make a video – it’s fun, easy and free!
<span style=”text-decoration:underline;”>www.onetruemedia.com</span></div></div>Thank you for your help!

I understand this a test video, not the one you really want to embed, right?
Copy this part:
<embed src="ETC ETC ETC"></embed>
and turn it to this:
[gigya src="ETC ETC ETC" ]
(Actually a couple of items in that code will have no effect, but it’s easier for both of us if we don’t bother dealing with which parts could be removed.)
Paste into HTML post or page editor, of course.
Below it you can paste the remaining part of the code as it is, minus the second /div tag, if you wish to display the blurb and the link below the player. But it isn’t strictly necessary, as the player itself links back to OneTrueMedia. For more on this see here:

Thank you, you rock!
Also, to answer your question, this is a test video and, actually, BaileyDooandJennatoo is just a test blog. I like to have a safe simple place to learn new things before posting where people are going to see them and judge me harshly. ;)
Thanks again!

Actually, one more question, if you’re still checking.
It doesn’t look like the quality parameter gets passed (the video looks at a lower res than when I view it directly on the one true media site.)
I have quality = “high” but if I type in “standard” the video still looks the same.
Any ideas on this?
Thank you again for all your help.

You’re welcome.
I was almost sure you pasted the code for that video deliberately (for the reason you explained in your original post), but I thought I’d better ask, to confirm that what I saw was what I was supposed to see and not a mistake or a malfunction.
In codes you don’t type in whatever seems logical: the accepted attributes and values are rigidly determined. “High” for quality is such an accepted value, “standard” isn’t:

If the quality of the displayed video isn’t good enough, then that’s the way they’ve designed their player, and you can’t do anything about it. Note that the player on their site is a different player, not the same one upscaled. -
Thank you, again. You are incredibly helpful. I was looking for the accepted parameters for a bit yesterday, but never thought to look at adobe. Thank you for the link.
I think I tried “best” at one point, but that may have been for something else. I’ll try that to see if it makes a difference, but now I’m leaning toward just using the slideshow feature build into wordpress. The photo quality of the slideshow is very good. Additionally, all the podsafe background music I found for the One True Media video was pretty lame, so I wasn’t sure about the video for that reason anyway. I’m happy to have learned how to do this, even if I don’t use it :)
Thank you again!
(BTW, I did strip out all the second chunk of <div> code…just an advertisement for One True Media…) -
@baileydooandjennatoo: You’re welcome again!
@adminnhinyow: You think the file format must be swf? No kidding! And what file format do you think this video player is?
