Embedded content
-
Hello,
I try, in vain, to put embedded content in my blog posts and in particular Tiktok and Instagram videos. However, that does not work. Only a link is displayed, but not the video.
How to do ?
Thank you !
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

You have to use the Embed Block as described at https://wordpress.com/support/wordpress-editor/blocks/embed-block/

Hi,
Thank you but I know, I’ve already used this block but it doesn’t work. As I said, only a link is displayed, but not the video.

Can you share a URL where you are embedding and it is not working? We’d be happy to take a look.

In this post, I tried to put embedded content (TikTok and Instagram) :
Thank you !

These links appear to have been inserted via a paragraph block.
Are you 100% sure you used an Intagram block https://wordpress.com/support/instagram/ and a TikTok block? https://wordpress.com/support/wordpress-editor/blocks/tiktok-block/

Yes, I am 100% sure that I used the Instagram and TikTok blocks. I put the link, it loads then it indicates a paragraph block with the link …

Hi there,
Can you tell us a little more about where you are grabbing those URLs from? They are formatted differently than I would expect, which is why they seem to not be working as embeds.
For example this is the TikTok URL you are using: https://vm.tiktok.com/ZSCkj8ef/
If I visit that link in my web browser, it takes me to a page with a different URL: https://www.tiktok.com/@deuxblogtrotters/video/6888670599883885826
That is the correct URL, and it will work in the TikTok block if you try it.
For the Instagram videos, also the link you are using seems odd. It looks like this:
https://www.instagram.com/reel/CG7PQkGhA8J/It seems that the “reel” URL will not work, but if you click on the sharing link for the video and copy that, it will give you a link that will work:
https://www.instagram.com/p/CG7PQkGhA8J/In my tests, that link will work in the Instagram embed block. If you try it does the link work for you as well?
Thanks for the additional info!

Oh thank you very much for your answer ; it works !
I don’t understand why I have different URLs… I have the Instagram and TikTok apps and when I click on the sharing link and copy it, I have those URLs… I can find the correct URL if I don’t use the Instagram app but I can’t with TikTok… I will try again !
Sorry for my english and thank you again ;)

It might be that the app is not giving you the same format and the block doesn’t recognize it. We have already reported this to our developers, hopefully, it will be fixed soon. In the meantime, I’m afraid you’ll need to paste the URLs from the browser.
