Embedded Google Calendar Entry Is Truncated When Entry Does Not Fit
-
Hi WordPress,
I have been using the embed feature of my Google Calendar in my WordPress.com blog. I have noticed that when I create a rather lengthy Calendar entry in my Google Calendar that it is truncated when the item appears in the WordPress embedded calendar. This appears to be because WordPress sets up a fixed size for the calendar entry display. When the truncation occurs there is no ability for the reader to get access to the “More Details” or “Copy to My Calendar” link at the bottom which are not there when truncation occurs. Consequently, I have to go back to my original Google Calendar entry and edit down the text amount so that truncation does not occur in the embedded calendar in WordPress. It would really seem that a simple solution is for WordPress to simply allow what the full length of the Google Calendar entry is and to allow a scroll bar in the embedded calendar in WordPress rather than the truncation of the end part of the calendar entry and the loss of the ability to use the link to “More Details” when the entry does not fit in the fixed space allowed by WordPress.
I was actually surprised when I did not see scroll bars in the calendar view of the embedded calendar in WordPress.
Is it possible for WordPress to consider allowing for a calendar view with scroll bars rather than a fixed size and the truncation that then occurs?
I have gotten rave reviews from those that use my blog for the nice embedded Google Calendar they find there. They just don’t know how much extra work I am doing to balance the original length of my Google Calendar entry to then edit it down when I know it won’t fully be displayed in WordPress.
I would also think this has been previously presented to WordPress as a nice “to do” item.
Thanks for understanding my dilemma.
I hope WordPress can offer some help to alleviate the view of the embedded Google Calendar entry when the entry is lengthy.

Hello there!
The way the embedded calendar works, is it adheres to the width of the column it’s inserted in, and because sometimes the column may be too narrow, many entries with long titles do look cut off and incomplete. The issue, however, isn’t something WordPress.com has much control over, as the calendar is generated from Google’s side of things.
It’s a known problem that has been reported by other users of Google Calendar:

When I click on an entry in your calendar, a pop up having options to view more details and copy to my calendar appears for me:
Hope I was able to clears things up! Please let me know if you need anything else clarified. Thanks!
