Embedded Mailchimp Form (not pop-up)

Hi! I’d like to add a static embedded (i.e. not a pop-up) mailchimp (or comparable email list manager) signup form to a site hosted on wordpress.com. I tried adding it in two places:

    Sidebar via Widget:
If I copy the embed HTML into a ‘Text’ widget, it doesn’t render as a signup form. The actual HTML displays in the sidebar.

    On a page:
I attempted to drop the HTML embed from mailchimp into the page editor (in HTML view). The signup form renders in the ‘Visual’ editor, but no on the actual site once I publish it.

Curious — is this blocked? Or an I doing something wrong? Does a certain upgrade tier enable this feature?

I’m considering moving my site to wordpress.com and need to determine if I can have the ability to publish static email signups and ‘lead capture’ embeds in various pages on the site. Doesn’t have to be mailchimp — just need the functionality mentioned above.

    Thanks!!

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    Hi there,

Hi! I’d like to add a static embedded (i.e. not a pop-up) mailchimp (or comparable email list manager) signup form to a site hosted on wordpress.com.

On WordPress.com we only support the use of Mailchimp forms in a the Mailchimp Subscriber Popup widget — it’s not possible to embed the form directly into a post or page. This guide explains how the widget can be used, in more detail:

    Add a Mailchimp Pop-Up

I attempted to drop the HTML embed from mailchimp into the page editor (in HTML view). The signup form renders in the ‘Visual’ editor, but no on the actual site once I publish it.

The embed isn’t working because the standard method of inserting a MailChimp signup form uses Javascript and form code, which is not allowed on WordPress.com, for security reasons:

    Add Code to Your Site

Doesn’t have to be mailchimp — just need the functionality mentioned above.

This guide to Subscriptions and Newsletter covers a couple of other options for visitors subscribing to your blog to receive email notifications. Perhaps one of these might be suitable?
