Embedded Video Problem
-
Sorry I posted in this forum https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/embedded-youtube-not-playing-well?replies=13 I didn’t realize is was marked as resolved.
I also seem to be having this same problem, it started a few weeks ago. I have the latest flash, I have done the cookie dance. I use IE 8, the video’s seem to “stutter” as sethdellinger has said in other forum, it’s like a bit of a time-lapse thing, very annoying. A friend has a totally different system to mine but uses IE 7 and the same thing is happening. I wonder if anyone can help with this problem. I’m really not concerned about what I see, but if friends are having a problem then I feel it is a bit of a worry, as most of my friends use IE 8 that is why I use it as well. Thank You for your time in advance. The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi macmanx Thank You for responding.
They video’s are fine on YouTube, and seem OK in the preview as well it is only after I publish that there seems to be a problem. -
Does the problem effect all YouTube videos at http://magsx2.wordpress.com/ or just specific ones?
-
Example:-
Neither of these video’s in this post are affected.
http://magsx2.wordpress.com/2011/01/16/city-lights-from-space-earthrise-videos/
But the video in this post is really bad.
http://magsx2.wordpress.com/2011/01/19/woolly-mammoth-to-be-resurrected-video-included/
Some video’s are worse than others. I find that most “stutter” some “stutter” slightly, others really bad. It is becoming rare to get a video that doesn’t do this. -
Sorry, I also posted first in the resolved thread so I post here aswell:
I have the exact same problem!
With IE 8 (on Windows 7 64-bit, IE 8 32bit, cpu usage under 5% and latest Flash player):
– Videos played back on YouTube gives me full FPS with no stuttering.
– Videos embedded on my blogg plays with only 10 FPS in IE8 (doesn’t matter what quallity).
– Turning off Hardware acceleration for Flash gives me no difference.
– In Firefox I get no problem – full 30 FPS on both Youtube and embedded. You can see the FPS if you right click a video and use option “Show video info”.
This problem seems to have started just a few weeks ago.
For example this video gives me 10 FPS with tons of dropped frames in IE8:
http://bengansblogg.wordpress.com/2011/01/18/black-sun-aeon-a-song-for-my-funeral/But played back on Youtube I get a full 30 FPS:

This is definitely interesting. I’ll pass these off to our team and see if we can do anything about it, or if the issue is on YouTube’s end.

The strange thing is – only embedded videos on WordPress.com stutters!
If I play a Youtube video embedded on another site with IE it gives me a full 30 fps with no dropped frames as it should.
Does Youtube use a different player for WordPress than the regular one offered for embedding? There are some visual differences, like the wordpress player also has a “play it later” button if you are logged on to a youtube account. I tried to logg off from Youtube and then the button dissapear but the video still stutters the same.
Thank you for checking this!

I am having the same problem with a new post @ http:// movementwithameaning.com as well. and most interestingly (and frustratingly) it is also showing up on a another of my WordPress.com sites: http://jcproductions7.wordpress.com which has been in operation for a couple of years with the same resume video which played beautifully until I checked it this week after having problems with my new posts on the new site. I have the latest version of flash I am also IE 8 person..
The links to the two Youtube videos are:user.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DaNwwYe_mR0
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2B608arNr0gSorry, can’t figure out how to make these hyperlinks.
-
One additional frustration, now on http://movementwithameaning.com the only video freezes a couple of minutes into the short segment (7:30) and apparently is never going to start again. So now we’re suffering no only jittery but also stalled/aborted playback. Help!
-
I’m not sure about the protocol with these postings but what constitutes an issue being resolved? Does MACMANX have somebody @ WordPress’ ear?
I’ve still got a website with an ugly looking Youtube video originally uploaded from
Adobe Media Encoder with the recommended H.264 preset that looks great fullscreen on Youtube and amateurish on my WordPress site. Anybody out there? Anyplace else to get help? -
-
@crummerjim in my experience, that’s a cache issue, ie it’s only affecting you computer. Log out, clear browser cache and cookies, and restart the computer. That Cookie Dance should clear it up.
-
crummerjim, those videos seem to work fine for me.
We discussed the stuttering problem, and we’re basically just loading one of their players with the video, which we really have no control over.
The problem appears to be on YouTube’s end.

Thanks for the quick reply but unfortunately for the problem I have done the cookie dance, reboot routine today again on my three computers, one of which is a relatively high powered, quad core, 8MB of RAM, dedicated, editing computer with Adobe Premiere Pro CS4 and Avid Express Pro, and I still have “jittery” video on my documentary site: http://movementwithameaning.com as well as my one-man-band production company site: http://jcproductions7.wordpress.com.
And although I’m certainly open to the idea that somehow this is YouTube problem, I may be dense but why do the videos on both WordPress sites play perfectly on all there computer on my YouTube channel?http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DaNwwYe_mR0

It is not good manners to look a very valuable gift house like WordPress in the mouth but when low budget video production is what you do and you calling card is on your site, it’s a problem. Thanks again for responding. -

In the case of http://movementwithameaning.com/ , all we’re doing is displaying the following:
All we do is display what YouTube’s servers tell us to display, and that’s what they’re telling us to display. There’s nothing else involved on our end besides displaying just that.
If it suffers the same problem for you, then the issue is unfortunately definitely on YouTube’s end.
-
Can I ask; have you had any kind of feedback from Youtube about this problem?
I understand that it is on Youtubes end, it is their player and servers streaming. But I still hope they are aware of this and somehow fixes it.
I still get the same stuttering and tons of dropped frames (using the Show video info on right click) on this with IE8:
http://bengansblogg.wordpress.com/2011/01/18/black-sun-aeon-a-song-for-my-funeral/and this:
http://bengansblogg.wordpress.com/2011/01/22/duke-nukem-forever-antligen-har/Both gives no stuttering playing on Youtube or with Firefox on wordpress.
BUT, oddly enough on this latest embedded video I get no stuttering! :
http://bengansblogg.wordpress.com/2011/01/25/unstoppable-skenande-tag-pa-film-och-sanningen-bakom/One difference I did with that post was to just paste the Youtube-link as text, I have always used the Youtube-tag or include video button before. I doubt that makes any difference though unless different players are used or something.
