Embedded videos in text widget no longer display on my site.

Hi,
Exactly what the topic says. Embedded videos in text widget no longer display on my site. I’ve been embedding videos in the widget area for a year and now they don’t work.
This occurred today. I have no clue why it’s not working.
Thanks.

Hi there,
I’ve been playing with the Text Widget and it doesn’t seem to render a video from YouTube for instance. However, I’ve used the Video widget and it worked right away.
Could you give this a shot?
Have a great one,

What mess. The dimensions are completely screwed up.
What happened with the text widget? Why can’t I still embed videos that way?
Thanks.

Oh I see, WordPress broke the text widget in WordPress 4.8 in order to force people to use their new broken video widget.
Good work.

Anybody work for wordpress that can give me an answer as to why we can’t embed videos in the text widget anymore?

@truthseekerblogger2015, sorry about the issues. I’ve tested using the Video Short Code for Youtube in a custom html widget in Opti, the theme you are using, and it is working for me without any of the issues (it will work in a standard Text Widget as well).
Give the following a try. Copy the URL of the youtube video you wish to add, add a Custom HTML widget to your sidebar and then do like the following example. Use the URL from the browser address bar on the page where you can play the video, not the embed code.
[youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GdrmH9Sc3vE]Let me know how things go with this procedure.
I was away for a few days, but I’ve checked back in on this issue, and the developers are working on a permanent fix for this, but in the meantime, using the shortcode will fix the issue, and will continue to work even after the permanent fix is deployed.
