embedded videos play with no image or won't load at all

I have embedded videos into my wordpress.com blog. The .mov plays, but the screen is black. The mp4 won’t load at all. When I am adding the media, the side bar tells me the video can not be processed. I have already paid for an upgrade on my blog to be able to embed video.
Is it my browser or how I am embedding? Can’t I upload video straight from my hard drive to my blog or do I have to put it on youtube/vimeo/etc. and copy the URL?

Hi there,
You should be able to upload the videos straight to your site (not embed through another service). It looks like the videos are returning “error_not_video”, which normally either means that the uploaded file wasn’t a video or it wasn’t encoded correctly. Can you let me know how you’re shooting/uploading these?

These are .mov files from an iPhone and mp4s taken off the Internet. Not sure what I’m doing wrong. Does it have to do with file size or some kind of formatting detail?

It’s likely the result of some sort of formatting detail. Are you using a program or software to process the videos prior to uploading?
