Embedding a multimedia object

  How do you embed a multimedia object to your sidebar.
  I’m trying to embed an swf file (flash) that should appear like a banner.
  I’ve tried using the <embed> tag into the text widget but it doesn’t seem to allow you to embed objects. Whats up with that? Is there any way I can get around this?

  You can’t embed flash on this multi-user blogging platform for security reasons. The software will strip the code out. Please see http://faq.wordpress.com/2006/10/23/can-i-add-flash-video-embed-other-media/
  The only way to “get around” this is to move to self-hosting or to hire a webhost and download a free blog template from http://wordpress.org.
  As those blogs run on different software then the only security you could compromise would be your own, unlike here where all 900,000 of us bloggers are on the same multi-user shared blogging platform https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic.php?id=3700&page&replies=1

  Might help us help you if you told us where this flash was coming from as there may be a way to add it in.

  But TT’s correct as it’s a security concern and removed from all user input.
